Stavrogin Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 does anyone have any info on this road? the forest service website isn't real helpful beyond the fact that it is blocked past the yellow aster butte trailhead. i'm wondering how drivable the road is up that point. any info would be appreciated... Bill_Simpkins Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 No info other that when the road is free of snow you need a high cleance vehicle past the YAB trail head. When I was a kid we took a car up there, but the last 10 years or so you need high cleance on the first half mile or so of that section, then it gets good again. I don't know why they just don't maintain that part of the road, it's so short. However, it is not that far of a drive to go check it out. Quote
tomtom Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 A couple of years ago, I drove my Honda Civic up to Twin Lakes. No big deal. Quote
Stavrogin Posted March 4, 2005 Author Posted March 4, 2005 forest service updated the conditions on their website yesterday. the road doesn't look to good for my outback. "Marginal access to MP 1.4 for 4WD. High clearance & carry chains beyond. Closed past Yellow Aster Butte trail head due to a rock slide." Quote
