johndavidjr Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 Because it's much larger & I don't mind full-weight fabric either. The slightly higher price is worth while -- in particular for winter use, which some here have scoffed at....Both tents are bomber in high wind, though only when banked with snow or perhaps rocks---though not the very best. wdietsch Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Anyone else have any experience, good or bad with the MSR Twin Peaks? Quote
cj001f Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I like my Betalight. Have used it in snow as well, w/floor. Plenty big inside for 2 people. Quote
Fairweather Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Just bought a Betalight and a Betabug for those nasty skeeters. Set them up together in the yard and seems pretty tight. Hope it's a good compromise between weight and versatility as I can take the 'bug' or leave it at home depending on the trip. The Betalight alone is lighter than my bivy sack. Can't wait to try them out. Quote
wdietsch Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 Question for you Betamid/light owners .... the height is listed @ 44" ... where exactly is that measured at? Is it at the low spot of the roof or at one of the peaks? Granted it all depends on how long you set your poles ... I'm thinking with the sides touching the ground. The other thing I am wondering about is whether or not the additional 10.3 sq ft of the MSR is worth the extra 6 oz? Quote
Blake Posted May 31, 2005 Posted May 31, 2005 The height at the peaks, as suggested for ideal pitching by BD is 52" so I'd guess the 44" would be the dip in between the peaks. IF your support poles are only 44", it will be too low. FWIW I like my betalight, but you need to remember to collect a couple sticks i you don't have poles already that you will use. Quote
marylou Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 I have the Beta Light, and can say that if you are below treeline and have access to trees, the thing pitches great from the hang loops up top. Feels a lot more spacious without the interior poles too. Quote
