Canadian Rockies weather?

Can anyone here characterize what the weather there is like at this time of year?

 

What influences the weather there? Stuff from the Pacific? Stuff from the Arctic?

 

Are there any general insights, like sucky weather here means sucky weather there two days later?

1) cool fall temps and early season alpine ice. snow on many higher peaks.

 

2) butterflies in bangkok flapping their wings

 

3) its going to be colder than here

was just up in canmore last weekend. snow fell to the tree line last week. looked like more colder weather to come, i.e. summer is over.

Pretty much, hence the reason its easier to forecast weather down the line since we can tell them whats happeing and give detailed weather data unlike here on the coast where we have no one to tell us whats going on out on the Pacific.

Cool, hopefully we'll have a few good days over there. Heading up there for a little over a week with two others -- our first time. We'll be backpacking/scrambling in the Assiniboine, Robson, and Lake Louise areas... it will be nice to get an idea for the place and the standard approaches as well as gape at climbing routes to put on my must-do list.

dude more like backpacking and SNOW CAMPING in the areas you list. it was a high of +3C in Edmonton today. most of the Rockies except for Banff got snow.

There was just some cool air from the North it snowed 20cm + in Fort St John, 22c is the high for tomorrow in Edmonton, it will be fine.

Yes, one of them was quite the snorting fellow when my friend bumped into him after dark.

 

We saw three bull moose in a standoff, but alas, just posturing and no fighting.

 

Anyway, it rained/snowed almost every night, though there were only noticable snow accumulations above 2500m. We managed to see ALL of Robson and all but the very top of Assiniboine, so we consider ourselves lucky. Larches were great, mushrooms were even better! Pretty much just backpacked, though did scramble up Titkana by Snowbird Pass.
