bwr Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 Has anyone been up to Challenger recently? I'm wondering about the condition of the Challenger glacier - if it's still passable given the hot weather. We're planning on going there in a couple of weeks. Thanks Quote
LoneGeezer Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Was on Fury last week, the SE glacier was very passable, expect that Challenger would be similar. The glaciers in Luna Cirque, at the base of the N-Butt were also passable, except for accessing the entry couloirs: there be moat monsters. Good luck, hope the weather holds Quote
eternalX Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Was planning on doing a Challenger / Luna (via Big Beaver / Perfect Pass) trip during the last week of August. The book says that its season goes to October. Does it become impassable later in the year? Is there water at perfect pass? Quote
JoshK Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Impassable is somebody's word for "I couldn't do it" You'd probably have to navigate around crevasses more, but I'm sure you could do it just fine. Quote
