gearho Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 Doing the North Ridge next Friday and wonder if there are still snow patches that can be reliably counted on for melting drinking water on route. -B Quote
pnut Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 Last water I had when I was there at this time last year was the glacier before you get on the route. By the way, isn't stuart closed due to forest fire? Quote
Bug Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 Not from the Ingalls side. water will be scarce. There will probably be some snow/ice in the gully at the bottom of the rap from the base of the gendarme. Bring prussiks. You do not want to miss the gendarme. Quote
eric8 Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 there was a small snow patch at the notch three weeks ago you would need a stove if it is still there... Quote
mvs Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 Two weeks ago we loaded up on water from a stream in ice chunks about 100 feet above the start of the access gully. Some climbing around in a moat to get it, but worthwhile. Quote
