skykilo
Climb: Mt Shuksan-North Face Date of Climb: 7/5/2004 Trip Report: Cyril and I skied the NF of Shuksan yesterday. It was an amazing route. Skiing over the edge of the Upper Curtis, making my first few turns while gawking at the view 4,000 feet straight down to Price Lake, I felt like an omnipotent being was loaning me a pair of angel's wings. The snow was truly perfect corn: easy carving butter that didn't sluff. I would do the bushwhack twice for such a descent. All apologies to the Skoogs, but I gotta say this: That iswhat skiing is all about. For me at least. Different stokes for different folks. Gear Notes: Crampons, ice ax, skis Approach Notes: Rumble through the jungle.
cracked
Nice, sounds like everybody was busy this weekend. How steep was it?
AllYouCanEat
Too bad I was too beat from Sherman/baker to join you, but the idea of 4 hours of sleep in my car and another round didn't sound appealing. I'm glad Cyril was able to suck it up and I'm sure you got some awesome pics. I really wanted to hit that though. I guess I'll just have to wait until next year. Man, this weekend ruled... savaiusini
How steep was it? From my descent back in 1999, I recall it to be a pretty consistant 45 degrees...maybe a little steeper right off the top...Then near 50 degrees through our cliff variation at the bottom. Actually on par with the Park HW, just longer and a little more exposure. Here is my TR from then: 1999 TR I look forward to seeing your TR and pics, Sky. skykilo
I've been noticing a LOT of stoke and love in the freshiezone lately, so on that note I thought I would post these pictures I finally scanned. To me, these represent the paragon of summer glisse bliss. Enjoy. Now that's a quality midsummer ski descent. In the words of a man with a great voice, whom I'd not trust with my children, "I believe I can fly." Ahh yeah. It'll probably be 'in' already after these storms clear out. Here's to the endless ski mountaineering opportunities in the northwest...
