Dru
If you are planning to come to Squamish this weekend please take note: 1) The Test of Metal mountain bike race is June 19 (Sat.) The normal Smoke Bluff parking lot *may* be closed all day saturday as a result. Climbers will have to park further away and walk in. 2) Brad Zdanivsky, the only climber to continue climbing after becoming a quadraplegic, will be trying to climb the Grand Wall. (I think he jumars with his neck and head or somethin') Anyways there will be fixed ropes strung up all over the Grand both Sat and Sun. The fixed line will be right of the Split but the last 2 pitches to Bellygood will probably be seeing heavy traffic from Brad and his support crew on the afternoons of both Sat and Sun. Plan accordingly. Maybe not the best weekend to do Grand Wall. More details www.verticalchallenge.org/news.htm I'm goin alpine suckers have fun in Squamish if you go! murraysovereign
Smoke Bluffs parking lot will be closed for much of the day, but parking will be allowed on both sides of Loggers Lane from the parking lot entrance all the way back to Hwy 99. It will probably be quicker to walk along Blind Channel and hike up Bansai Pipeline or up past Carjack Crag rather than going around through the lot. That will help race organisers also by minimizing pedestrian traffic on that downhill gravel stretch of TofM course into the parking lot.
