johndavidjr Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Am considering the hike from lake of angels to lena lakes in SW Olympics. Am on East Coast & trying to predict snow conditions around July 4. Can anybody venture a guess? Quote
olyclimber Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 my fortune cookie says snow will not be a problem. however, East Coaster getting lost near Scout Lake will be. thank you for allowing progressive to post. Quote
johndavidjr Posted May 25, 2004 Author Posted May 25, 2004 (edited) So true. I can't even remember the correct names as I sit here, but it's a pretty well-known minor route that goes by LLs. I got to the basins below LA last summer on the trail, but a bear hunter's rifle shots scared my girlfriend, so we turned around. Stunning moonlite views of Pershing though. Tweezer Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 There is always snow on the East face of stone (It can be a large snow feild in early July). Easy to cross it is adviseable to bring an ice axe. Bring a helmet too because the route through St.Peters gate is steep and full of lose rock and scree. Quote
