bellemontagne Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 Does anyone know of any organizations, institutions, or guide services that offer a high angle rescue course? I'm looking for an intensive week long course and not a semester long course. Any recommendations? Thankx! Quote
chelle Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 Call the people at Rescue Specialists in Leavenworth. They do a great WFR course and used to do a high angle rescue class. They stopped doing it other than for groups, but am sure they can recommend a good company. www.rescuespec.com Good luck. Quote
Figger_Eight Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 American Alpine Institute offers a good one. WMI/Nols just added a similar class, but it's in Lander, WY this year. Quote
Freeman Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 Chelan County Mountain Rescue has used Rigging for Rescue, now owned by Mike Gibbs of Ouray, CO (970.325.4474) Their url is www.riggingforrescue.com I highly recommend their instructor Leo Lloyd of Durango Co. For some photos of a recent R4R seminar at Castle Rock check the gallery section at www.ccmra.org Quote
AJ Posted June 20, 2002 Posted June 20, 2002 I also hear good things about "Ropes that Rescue" in Arizona. They also do a fair amount of industrial type stuff. Quote
haireball Posted June 21, 2002 Posted June 21, 2002 Expanding on Freeman's note, CCMR uses Rigging For Rescue because R4R is widely acknowledged to be the premiere rope-rescue trainer on the North American continent. They do not, however, address self-rescue in any sustantive way. Outside of the AMGA, I'm not aware of anyone who does... CCMR is currently discussing offering a self-rescue seminar later this summer, using facilitators who have taught the AMGA programs. We will post date and contact information when/if the plan bears fruit. Quote
