Anyone have comments/suggestions on skiboards? Is there anywhere in the Seattle or Puget Sound area that rents 'em? I'm trying to solve the long/light spring climbing approach conundrum so feel free to voice your opinion on better solutions (non-plastic climbing boots).

I saw a guy carrying them DOWN from Camp Muir one time so they must have their drawbacks.

I'd say invest in some old short skis, Silveretta 404 bindings and whatever skins you can afford. Better than snowshoeing.

Most of them have a fixed binding, only for riding down.

REI in seattle has like 5 pairs of K2 shorties for sale right now for like $89, which is really cheap if you want the things. I've ridden them once, up at Stevens pass, and they were pretty damn fun. You can hop all sorts of shit. I was drunk while doing it so maybe that enhanced the experience tho...

I've thought about this option too. Seems feasible if the snow is firm and you don't need flotation on the way up or down, but could well be useless in soft conditions.
