Keith Posted June 12, 2002 Posted June 12, 2002 Anyone know what the current climbing conditions are on Mt. Garibaldi in BC? Quote
jordop Posted June 12, 2002 Posted June 12, 2002 Slush and shrund Snow is pretty slushy right now for booting it up; there will still be lots of snow around Elfin Lakes so skis are your best bet. Perhaps - Darwin forbid - you are going to sled up via Brohm Ridge, though. S ridge of Atwell is way out judging from the mud visible from Squamish. Standard route on Garibladi is just snow with some navigating around the edge of the berger. [ 06-11-2002, 11:08 PM: Message edited by: jordop ] Quote
sverdina Posted June 12, 2002 Posted June 12, 2002 Did it wkend of June 1/2. It was possible to almost drive up to the end of the Brohm ridge jeep road (4200ft), though a more direct ascent route appears to head straight up through the forest from the logging operation @ the last switchback. Lots of snow/slush to the edge of the warren glacier. Crevasses posed little problems & the 'shrund crossing was a non-issue. Quote
Dru Posted June 13, 2002 Posted June 13, 2002 Some friends did E face of Atwell last weekend. Did not climb last 5m in face of unprotected looseness. The rest was reportedly good solid snow. Quote
