Thrashador Posted March 6, 2004 Posted March 6, 2004 Searching for ideas on dsl providers in the pdx hood. Earthlink has a pretty good deal on a one year commitment: $20 for first 3 months then $50 for the next 9. Schpeed=1.5 down and 400k up. Free modem. Is this a good deal or should I shop around? I know that alot of peeps dis elink but when I've been in desperate need of tech support they seem to have always come through. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. tia Quote
JoshK Posted March 6, 2004 Posted March 6, 2004 I dunno about pdx, but cable is the much better deal here in sea. Much faster for less money. Quote
Roger Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 I signed up with qwest fairly recently on their promotional offer that was definitely the best deal in town at the time - $30/mo. for a year, free installation, free modem. Not sure if they're still running it though. There might be some helpful info here - comcast vs. dsl Quote
Thrashador Posted March 7, 2004 Author Posted March 7, 2004 tnx d00ds. roger, do you know what your up and down speeds are with qwest? the e-link deal down speed is pretty tasty. i was speaking with a qwest rep the other day who sounded somewhat impressed by the e-link deal and added a '900 lb. gorilla' comment about them. Roger Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 A qwest rep referring to earthlink as a "900-lb. gorilla"...? You've got to be kidding. I don't know anything about speeds, 'cuz I'm a total tech zero. It's definitely fast enough for me, but I'm no trask. Quote
