iain Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 I find the 60% similarity with fruit flies more interesting. And the fact if you insert human genes with genetic disorders like Parkinson's into fruit flies, they show similar symptoms. I'm going to go have a lunch of potato flakes now, then maybe find an old banana to take a nap. Quote

catbirdseat Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 Shouldn't you be reading Scientific Canadian? I thought that "Scientific Canadian" was an oxymoron. Quote
Dru Posted March 3, 2004 Author Posted March 3, 2004 Shouldn't you be reading Scientific Canadian? this thread is for the monkey avatars. some of whom have abandoned their inner chimp in favour of albino chihuahuas or whatever. But hang on if a male human and a male chimp are 98.5% similar DNA (1.5% different). And the difference between a male human and a female human is XX vs XY, or 1/2 of one chromosome, then a male & female human differ by 1/46th or 2.2%: Conclusion. Male humans are more like male chimps than they are like female humans. And vice versa. Also this should settle the Bush or Chimp debate. Bush IS Chimp (98.5% is about twice what he got in the popular vote and he IS President as a result) but so is Kerry. Quote
