richard_noggin Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Rotohammer $800 Misc.tools $200 Hardware 1 route $100+ possible trashed rope$$ A week of your time work'n getting grimed out , having you cheeks pukered form setting anchors, hang'n and cleaning large debri, worrying about the rope getting cut, rattle snakes, bats and bees. Searching endlessly for that right bolt placement, that might not be where you want it because of rock quallity, evaluating fall potentual , final brushing and cleaning, beg'n for some belay time to work the route. So after all that you feel good about the route and yourself. Than they trash you and your route on the SPRAYBOARD NOW THAT'S CLASSIC So tell me again why a route setter would want to put up a route and post the new route on this board If this topic does not degenerate to the bolt anti bolt topic you could move it to the RC forum Quote
AlpineK Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Money and time spent putting up a route are not the entrance requirements for critiquing a route. Having climbed for a long time in a variety of areas does add weight to your views. Go read a movie review Dick. I bet the critic hasn't made a movie like the director who's movie the critic is reviewing. Nobody starts whining that the critic isn't qualified to review movies because he/she hasn't invested time and money in making a movie. Quote

AlpineK Posted February 22, 2004 Posted February 22, 2004 Ya know Dick I don't think you know what a troll is. Now if I responded to the S & E comment you would have trolled me. The fact is route setters use a limited public resource when they create a route. There is no way that other climbers are not going to have an oppinion. If you think that you deserve protection from excessive abuse then I'm with you, but if you think that any comment that isn't positive should be removed from public view then you are dead wrong.
