ncascademtns Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 Went up Squire Creek this morning to do a recon for next weekend. Plan on doing 3Fingers North Peak's Northeast Buttrest. I was amazed at the washout condition. It is at least a quarter mile across. Road closed between UTM markers 41 and 42 (where the road bends off the USGS Whitehorse map and then returns). I'm guessing no plans of fixing it. Sorry no pictures. I left my camera in the truck. Squire Creek Wall was very impressive though. It was good to get out today and get some exercise. Quote
dbb Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 I think now a (better?) way to get to SC wall is to go over Squire Pass on the 8-mile trail (approach to 3-oclock rock). Takes a few hours so I hear... Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 Just past 3 oclock rock there is a bunch of downed trees you have to get over. Quote
mattp Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 The avalanche debris in the woods just past 3:00 Rock is gone, but I don't think that is a good way to get to Squire Creek Wall. Even with the big washout, it is miles shorter and avoids an unnecessary climb up and over Squire Creek Pass to approach SQW via Squire Creek. Quote
ncascademtns Posted February 9, 2004 Author Posted February 9, 2004 It was only an hour walk up the road to the trailhead. Shouldn't make things any more difficult. It will soon be jsut another logging road trail in the Cascades. Quote
