Doug_Hutchinson Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 On Friday, after endless days of powder skiing (fucking awesome snow cycle!), DaveK and I thought it was time to go a searching for some ice. Drove through the Gorge and saw a few smears but knew it hadn't been cold enough to form climbable ice there. Headed for Pete's Pile. The 20 minute approach took about 1-1/2 hours since the snow went from knee, to waist, to chest deep (no lie!). Although it was a nice workout, there was absolutely no ice to be had. Swam back to the car for yet another epic day at Ski Bowl. If you are really desperate, I predict Tuesday will see some barely climbable ice in the Gorge, then it'll all be over for now with a return to normal temps later next week. Quote
iain Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 in other news, day 4 of yet another powder epic starts tomorrow. Quote
