Peter_Puget Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Nothing is happening here. Get to work Scotty! I wanna see how you are doing the online guides. Quote
willstrickland Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 NWOG is donating some cash and time this holiday season to improve the hut system by adding these: Quote
scott_harpell Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 anywho... he is gonna get sued for using music without permission. better be careful. Quote
scott_harpell Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 uhm. man. seriously. get some helpmaking your movies and filming too. if you want to have a professional service, you gotta look professional. Quote
willstrickland Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 For real bro, weak video with your "ropegun" pitching off a 5.9 is not going to make you look good in the eyes of potential clients. Try a tripod, I needed dramamine to get through the clip. Other climbers rapping through your frame and their rope flying through the pic makes it look like circus time too. Ditto on the copyrighted music. Maybe cool for a home video you show to friends and family, not cool for something on the web. Quote
Peter_Puget Posted December 24, 2003 Author Posted December 24, 2003 You guys are a tough crowd Quote
Dru Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 maybe a little magic and animal training would help Quote
willstrickland Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 You guys are a tough crowd I don't think so. Don't you find irony in the fact that he's tagged his video clips "copyright 2003" but he's ripping off Ice Cube's copyrighted music in these video clips? Quote
scrambler Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 I think it's great if someone has a business idea and the passion to pursue that idea in what may or may not turn out to be a successful venture. I'm not familiar with copyright law but this may fall under the Fair Use provision--portion of the work rather than entire work, not directly used for generating revenue, etc. But, I'd also err on the side of caution for a money making venture exposed to the general public through the Internet. Probably won't show up on anyone's radar screen but... Quote
Dru Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 there are a couple lawyers that post regularly on this site and i'm certain one of them is already suing scotteryx on behalf of ice cube.... Quote
Peter_Puget Posted December 24, 2003 Author Posted December 24, 2003 (edited) You guys are a tough crowd I don't think so. Don't you find irony in the fact that he's tagged his video clips "copyright 2003" but he's ripping off Ice Cube's copyrighted music in these video clips? I agree with the copyright goofiness but that is but a small part of the slams against Scott. I didn't make it through one of the vids and I tried several but to me it looks like he is just having fun playing on the web. Some of his stuff works, some doesn't. I'd love to see a small Video of Dist32 on one of his trip or Rudy sending some Smith route or even the MIA DFA showing off his patented Chain beta. Edited December 24, 2003 by Peter_Puget Quote
scrambler Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 Very few people have instant respect. Most have to work at it and gain it gradually. Anyone familiar with the old site can clearly see the evolution of someone devoted to climbing. Of course, now he has another more pressing responsibility. Quote
chucK Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 I like some of those videos. The part with the bobbing headlamp in space is pretty effective (Forbidden vid I think). Makes me wanna shell out some dough to get those guys to haul my ass up those things . Quote
willstrickland Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 Forbidden vid was a much better production than the other two I watched, the 11worth and vantage ones, which were pretty bad. I agree, I'd like to see more people putting up video. It looks like he's doing it to experiment and learn about the development of the vids as much as anything. Scrambler's right, with a new baby on the scene it's gonna be the West Ridge of Pampers, and the North Face of Osh Kosh for a while. Quote
