sk Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Ithought we were going to be hephalump hunting again Quote
iain Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 our one and only Portland native Gus Van Sant! Heard it's good, have not seen it yet. The real problem with hunting elephants is carrying the decoys. Quote
willstrickland Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 I like my copy of White Blood Cells better, it's a little more raw, but Elephant is cool too. Ball and biscuit is a pretty good tune. It's a shame that the corporate radio programmers have played Seven Nation Army to death, but ....oh wait....you aren't talking about the White Stripes? Gus Van Sant? Wasn't that guy the lead singer in Lynr'd Skynr'd? Quote
scrambler Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Syd Barrett sang a song about effervescing elephants. Dude could write some wacky offbeat songs. Effervescing Elephant Quote

chelle Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 jordop said: Who's seen it? Whad'ya think? Should be standard viewing for teachers and parents and a cool, non-black and white view, but kinda silly and heavy handed (the shots of cloud filled skies are way contrived). This one scene where bulimic girls barf in unison is stupid Just saw this flick and liked it. It was less disturbing than I expected. I found the ads for violent video games before the movie to be kinda weird. The scene where the girls go barf in unison isn't that contrived. It's been a few years since I was a high school chick, but we did tend to run in packs and pretty much did the same things. Thankfully my crowd wasn't into being bulemic. One thing that I thought was well done was the fact that pretty much all the kids seemed like "normal" teenagers from the outside. Even the two guys that blew everything up. I'm not sure anyone would be able to tell their plan based on their behavior... Maybe that's what Van Sant wanted us to think about. I would have expected more panic from the other students and more curiosity from the teachers and others about what was happening when the first few shots were being fired. Quote
