Dru Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 the perfect blend of old school and new school - the sit start is a standing start with hands at lip of roof a boulder problem that is a thin fingers crack climb, 30 deg. overhanging, only 2 moves to a big jug and beach whale mantle. Quote
Billygoat Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 Hey Dru, I was checkin' out the Anderson River Group in the Red Beckey and for such a big area there are so few routes. Do you think it is worth checking out? Quote
Dru Posted September 22, 2003 Author Posted September 22, 2003 I was up in the area on Saturday. For such a big area half the rock resembles a flaky granola bar, and another 33% consists of trees and moss. The remaining 16% is excellent. However it is also a) behind locked gates or b) was wet on Saturday. We backed off 2 pitches up an established sandbag from the 70's due to inability of feet or hands to stick in mud filled cracks. For more excuses send $10. Quote
Billygoat Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 That was a good one. You mean it is locked heading to Chamois as well as Vicuna? Quote
Dru Posted September 22, 2003 Author Posted September 22, 2003 the guy who gives out the key left 30 minutes before we got to the office Quote
Billygoat Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 AHHHHHH shit! Do you have to be in the "know" or can anyone get "the key"? Quote
Dru Posted September 22, 2003 Author Posted September 22, 2003 i think he deliberately left early to avoid us which bodes poorly for the chances of others to get in there either Quote
Dru Posted September 22, 2003 Author Posted September 22, 2003 BUT ANYWAY THIS POST IS ABOUT BOULDERING NOT SOME STUPID GRANITE DOMES!!! Quote
Billygoat Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 Oh Yeah! I just figured that some pieces might have fallen off some of those domes and be laying at the bottom in the woods. Quote
Dru Posted September 22, 2003 Author Posted September 22, 2003 i did some rad alpine bouldering after backing off of a route!!! i will post pictures of this ten star V8 highball project* none of us could get the ballz or muscles together to do, when i get my roll of slides finished and scanned weeks from now * Distel it's only 2.5 hours hiking approach!!!! Quote
Distel32 Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 really? only 2.5 hours? dude I am there! I have to admit I'm getting pretty tired of throwing the crashpad down straight out of my car and climbing. Actually I wouldn't really mind an hour or so approach, but 2.5 is a bit intense, it'd have to be some rad shit! If Joe's valley was a 2.5hr hike I'd do it Quote
