Forbidden W. Ridge beta

Anyone have recent beta? How is it getting onto the ridge now?

I don't know alot, but from a description a friend gave me the couloir leading up to the ridge sounds pretty melted out and a pain to get up. They had a hard time with following the trail as well.

Would the E. Ridge be better this time of year?

Or do Torment Forbidden traverse and descend East Ledges.

On 8/1 we were able to access the couloir via continuous snow going to the right of the 'guardian' rock. Other parties went on the discontinuous snow to the left of the rock and seemed to work fine. Going right around the rockprobably has gaps by now.

 

Once in the couloir we were able to step onto ledge systems on the left, leading up to the slab. This also will probably be melted so access may need to occur lower down. Good luck.

I was up in Boston Basin on Wednesday, 8/13 and we could see most of the gully. It look pretty melted out, only the lower section had snow.

to the left of the gully, you can climb up the face. It's moderate 4th class, and might be quicker than slogging up the couloir, even earlier in the season.
