Kyle_Flick Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 Anyone know the condition of the face this late in the summer? Still a snow and ice climb or just a rockfall gallery? Quote
mattp Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 I've climbed it in late September or early October and it was a snowclimb then. Quote
klenke Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 I have added a photo to the gallery of the North Face of Maude from exactly 7 years ago this weekend. Click here. Take it for what it is: old conditions. It may or may not be representative of this year's conditions. Quote
ryland_moore Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 If its not in just go do Entiat Icefall instead! Quote
Kyle_Flick Posted August 7, 2003 Author Posted August 7, 2003 Thanks Matt and Paul. Ryland, I did the Icefall several years ago, and this time I'm taking someone that's relatively new to steep snow and thought the north face might be easier for him. Quote
mattp Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 Kyle, you didn't ask this question but I would guess that somebody "relatively new to climbing" would not enjoy the traverse from the Maud/Jack col (some experienced climbers too, for that matter); I recommend going that way but it IS a mess of loose rock with some significant exposure so you may want to go the long way around.
