Sol Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 Anybody been up on the north side of Baker lately? Thinking about doing a ski ascent of the Park Glacier sometime soon. Looming headwall Cornices? Slabs? Quote
Alpinfox Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 Haven't been on Baker, but the N. side of Shuksan is a bunch of slop. Surprisingly little slide/icefall activity last weekend considering the conditions. Freezing level is really high right now, so I assume it's sloppy on Baker too. Quote
skykilo Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 I climbed the Park HW almost three weeks ago. The cornice was easy to surmount by kicking two steps. The hardest part is getting around the 'schrunds. Skiing is the way to go. If you like steeps with a little exposure, the Park HW is smokin'. Quote
