cracked Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 I'm just wondering, how many calories are burned during a session bouldering at the gym? I figure since it's anaerobic, it probably takes less energy than aerobic exercise. Quote
Courtenay Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Great question: I imagine it depends a lot on how hard you're working -- it could be similar to upwards of an hour's worth of strenuous strength training. And I imagine for some, an intense hour of bouldering (verging on interval/alactic training) may even burn MORE than an hour of low-grade (read: 50-60% MHR) cardio, given the post-workout caloric burn and recovery time it takes your body after a hard workout... Anyone else have an exact figure/reference? Quote
Courtenay Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Okay, Sal, where'd you get that figure from? Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 I believe bouldering to be the best exercise for weight loss. Due to its high hourly caloric burn rate. Books will be written. To substantiate this claim. Quote
cracked Posted March 6, 2003 Author Posted March 6, 2003 Well, I'm going to the gym in an hour. Better work off that fat! Maybe I should stop living off of candybars. Ahh, a college student's life... Quote
ryland_moore Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Paul, you actually go to college? Where do you find the time to post? Quote
cracked Posted March 6, 2003 Author Posted March 6, 2003 It goes like this: do one physics problem, spray for 10 minutes. Do another problem, spray another 10 min. Actually, I'm looking forward to having a job, look at John, he goes climbing EVERY weekend for a month and a half straight. Quote
