slothrop Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 NxNW and I climbed McClellan Butte on Saturday. We missed our intended route up a north side gully (it was filled with brush where the trail crossed), but had some fun climbing up firm snow and choss onto the southwest ridge. Some "freshiez" came down on the descent, making our route down and across several rock bands more exciting. On the way out, we missed the trail where it crosses the road and got a little more exercise. This was my first time out in the mountains since hurting my ankle back in January. Let the dancing alpine buddy express my happiness, thus: Long, wordy TR here. Quote
North_by_Northwest Posted February 18, 2003 Posted February 18, 2003 Nice TR Slothrop. I know you didn't notice, but I took some photos while we were out there; work habits die hard you know. On the trail-still no snow! A mountaineers group in the distance. An awesome summit shot. We weren't sure what kind of bird that was, it looked big! Slothrop on the summit enjoying fresh snowfall. Leaving the snow. The descent. A random picture of FB on approach in the N. Cascades. Quote
slothrop Posted February 18, 2003 Author Posted February 18, 2003 Nice work, man. I, for one, was glad I brought my elvish cloak that day. Quote
slothrop Posted February 18, 2003 Author Posted February 18, 2003 Those little fuckers were everywhere. They can pull some hard moves on the choss, too. See attached photo, taken from approximately the same vantage point as NxNW's nice summit shot. Quote
