vsigler Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 I am looking to climb Middle Sister sometime in mid-late June. I understand that one can approach the mountain either from the east or west. Which approach is best, if either, during that time of year? I would like to spend three days on the mountain, so I am also asking for any suggestions for camp areas that might facilitate multiple routes up either North or South Sister, as well. This might not even be possible, as I don't know the area so well yet. Thanks. Quote
ScaredSilly Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 One can easily do both North and Middle in a day. Pole Creek is a better approach. One can go up the SE Ridge on North and gain the regular South Ridge route to the summit, back track to the col with Middle then hike to the top. Then descend from the col back to Pole Creek Quote
plurpimpin Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 You also need permits for the Obsidian limited entry area if you approach from the west. They sell out quickly so plan ahead if you want to come in that way. No special permits needed for Pole Creek, just fill out a wilderness permit in the parking lot. Quote
