i just hope you dont use index as a place to guide
keep that crap at crags that are better suited for it.
saw miles smart guiding out there a few weeks ago...makes me wonder who holds the user days for that area? i can only hope no guide service does. index is a special place to me and i can only see bad resulting from increased guide useage.

roger, never stated that they were idiots. i just personally feel that we can control more things then one believes but your awareness must be tuned. one is solely responsible to for their own actions at times like when climbing there is an understood trust between partners that no matter what climbing is 50/50. a good climber can and should reconize objective hazrds as best as they can, no matter if it is a runout, shitty gear, bad rock or whatever....grated this is not always possible, but we as individuals must try our hardest. i do not want to die and i certainly do not want to die climbing, so i personally take care in all situations to be as safe as possible.

for not caring about others who have died.
it is tragic, but not enough for me to feel emotional over it. i do not see the point in grandstanding with our emotions over something like this.
i have had a few friends die and a few family members pass it was sad, but i do not see how allowing these things in which i have no control over to rule my life?
someone in that accident did make a mistake. i dont know what it is and most likely never will know. but i have every right to think about it and pass conjecture over what i see as possbile errors on their part.
and to answer radon's question about who somethings just are not in our control. you are right, but i do not live my life in the closet afraid of the what i cannot control.

maybe i overstepped my right to comment.
but i still little if anything can be gained from this other then a personal reminder to check and double check, protect your belay and all that...ask anyone who climbs with me if i am safe.
i still see no point in fretting over an anomymous person dying....it is tragic but affects my life zero. it sux to see and hear people die, but why dwell on it and allow it to control your life.
climbing has its inhertant risks and we as individual climbers are required to understand and accept those risks.

the national park service should listen to the people who enjoy, care for and use the park not the moronic enviomental b.s. on the rapid ecceleration of soil eorsion due to "renegade" trails.
but since they are too busy being cops in the wilderness they will not listen or care what the actual owners of the land have to say.

mistere you come to this conclusion how? i would really think that my job has little to do with anything in regards to repersentation of myself. i don't like to work plain and simple. this job offers me decent money and lotsa vacation doing something that i could careless about it.
seems like a nice job. my passive agression stems from the fact that i am so annoyed by the way people post on this board(myself included), but since i cannot change it, i will just be as fucking annoying as most of the other people around here.
hope that makes sense pal! now i am off for 6 days!
