  1. I agree that engines used for recreation should be forced to meet much higher standards.

There is curently no alternative to the 2 stroke for chainsaws however. I'll think about it when there is an alternative, but until then. boxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gifboxing_smiley.gif

  2. I grew up skiing at the mounty lodges. I took the basic climbing course and dropped out of the intermediate climbing course as a teen. I think the group does a number of good things, but the vast majority of interactions I and other climbers have with mounty groups make them look like a bunch of clueless and anoying idiots who deserve lots of abuse. boxing_smiley.gif

  3. In CO you have cold temps and lots of wind. Also early in the season there will be long periods without snow. All this leads to typically unstable snowpack until spring when the snowpack becomes equatemp.

Boot packing a slope mixes the layers and thus makes the slope more stable alowing a deeper base to build up. There is a good chance that skiers would continually trigger avys on slopes in CO, so a base would never build up and a lot of skiers might get seriously fucked up.

There's an article in on of last years issues of Couloir. The subject is a semi-bc ski bowl that's part of Aspen Highlands.

  4. As far as I'm concerned Colorado is an area we should sacrifice to the gumby's. Sure the skiing can be great, but the state has gone out of it's way to build up its image as the skiing meca in the US.

I say fine let the gumbys have it.

I want you all to note how TLG is getting paid to boot pack the slopes at Silverton. Nobody boot packs slopes in the Cascades, BC, the Wasatch, or the Tetons. The truth is unless you boot pack a slope in places like Colorado the slope will keep sliding and sliding with skiers on it and never build up a base. Backcountry skiing in CO is pretty sketchy till spring.

Colorado seems nice on a superficial level, but in reality it lacks substance.

TLG, I've skied at Teluride and all over CO and I don't deny it's cool, but I'd take skiing in the rest of North America over CO any day. Ice climbing and rock climbing are different stories wink.gif

They do. The oil goes directly into the lake. Two-stroke engines suck the big green weenie. thumbs_down.gif Ban them now- not in ten years.

If your ideas come to pass I hope a tree falls on your house and kills your dog because you couldn't afford the $10,000 labor cost it will take to cut down a tree with crosscut saws

His previouscommander, General Hugh Shelton, demoted him and stated that Clark is a man with character problems. I'll find the link.....

He is a Clinton puppet. Just keeping the seat warm for Hillary in '08. Secret: Bill and Hil' don't want the dem's to win in '04. That would be bad mojo for their ongoing political ambitions. blush.gif

I've just read a story on MSN about how Shelton hates him. It would seem to me that Shelton has not come forward with specifics. Without specifics I tend to think there's a good chance it's like one of these spray war type things we have here on CC.com.

    Let's here some specific charges.

It is pretty fun, but you do have both of your feet tied to one board. That's not to much fun when you've gotta do a lot of flat skiing.

sfine with me that you want to ski the flats. sucka. i like the steep anyhow.

I've skied a lot of steep slopes with long barely downhill runouts. I remember waiting 15 or 20 minutes for my buddy on his snowboard a few times.

It's even better on skis tongue.gif (actually I wouldn't know I've never tried snowboarding)

Well boarding is where it is at E-rock. I've been all kinds, tele, alpine, and randonee, nothing compares to ripping down some face on a snowboard.

I've snowboarded a bit. It is pretty fun, but you do have both of your feet tied to one board. That's not to much fun when you've gotta do a lot of flat skiing.

Sure you can buy a split board or snowshoes, but then you've gotta take the board off and fuck with it or cary the extra weight of snowshoes.

I'll stick to skis thank you.

Infact I will take nearly any place over crystal...can't stand the posers that go there.

confused.gif as for the "posers" you'll find ripping up the great terrain crystal has to offer, they probably can't stand the likes of you either. rolleyes.gif

    geez; i'm going skiing ...

God I hope so. I would hate myself if the likes of the crystal clientele liked me.

Bad new Scott, I like Crystal and I like you tongue.gif

Baker can be good too, but it's a long drive.
