Bought these last winter, long story short they are the wrong size and Un - returnable. My loss is by our gain. They have only been used once and and are in superb condition, and need a new home where they can charge. I live in Montana but will pay for shipping.

Last minute day off, anyone interested in a car to car mission? I have all necessary gear and beta, just looking for a fit and competent partner for a classic route.

Dave A's description is accurate, victim was on the uppermost of a series of large ledges below the fin.

Had a good view of the glacier from the serpentine arete monday, its in prime shape, with a well traveled boot pack. crampons and a single axe (and rope depending on comfort level) are all that are needed. Looks like minimal snow traval from the notch to the summit. Looks like most people have been glissading the glacier in the soft, late afternoon snow. Start really early this weekend, temps are going to be high and that route would be miserable in the sun and soft snow.

Saw the recovery operations Monday from the Serpentine. So sad. Climber Fatality on Dragontail Peak

Mt. Adams Fire Lookout Construction of a fire lookout on the summit of Mt. Adams began in 1918. It took three summers to haul materials to the summit and construct the building. The lookout was staffed for two seasons before it was abandoned. Arthur Jones, the lookout guard, inscribed the rocks at Pikers Peak. In the 1930s, after the lookout was no longer used for fire detection, the lookout was used as the base of a sulfur mining operation on the summit. Sulfur was mined and hauled down the mountain on pack mules. Eventually, the sulfur market nose-dived and the cost of hauling the sulfur down the mountain because cost prohibitive. The mining operation was abandoned. Today the lookout is covered by glacial snow and ice. Climbers can see parts of the building at various times. The climber's register is located on top of the lookout building.

Thanks for the suggestions! Crossing my fingers on the weather...

Prefer non-established sites, but really anywhere we could put up a tent and have a fire would be prime.

Does anybody have any suggestions for places to camp near Tieton this time of year?

The weather looks like it will hold through Saturday-anyone in North Idaho or E. WA wanna get one more last trip in the 'pine before the big snow hits? I'm really interested in the South Face/East Buttress linkup on the Lion's Head-but really anything would work. I live in Spokane, have plenty of experience, and can drive. Send PM if interested.

A Kiwi is the nickname used for people from New Zealand. -
Buddy just bailed on weekend plans, anyone with a trad rack interested in the Beckey Route/Concord Saturday, and the Southwest Rib or South Arete Sunday? Or another alpine climb in the area? I have everything except some of the cams. PM if interested.

[TR] Mount Challenger - Challenger Glacier 7/9/2011
Moonshiner replied to Le Piston's topic in North Cascades
Good stuff, glad to see you've been getting after it! I really wanna climb Challenger later this month/next month, thanks for the beta. -
Shuksan! Baker/CD is much more traveled than the Shukhorn. Plus, if you climb the white salmon with a guide, the knowledge and experience you will gain should allow you to charge up the CD on your own.

Ditto! Awesome! -
Glacier Peak this time of year, with this years snowpack= the longest slog known to man. I'd imagine there is snow from well below White Pass alllll the way to the summit, best guess is around 7-9 miles of snow each way. I'd wait a month before giving it a shot (the alpine meadows are worth the wait). From what I've heard, Liberty Ridge is in.

Saw a couple in Mazama last weekend too, almost stepped on a 2 footer, solid adrenaline rush! Kicking rocks and using a stick is what worked the best.
