  1. mind/brain?? you mean mind/body duality?
  2. By the way part two: Check out my killer calves: Yes, those are really mine. Further proof that I am hardcore mountain climber. I have to admit that's pretty impressive for a 20 year old girl. And I'm just getting started!!
  3. you're wrong on that one I have no hidden agenda. I have shit loads of pics from my yosemite trips and I'll post some from my San gorgonio/Mt. shasta climbs.
  4. By the way, what do you guys think of this sweet look of mine?? I wore it all of monday, and my neighbor( a crazy german lady who drives an expensive sports mercedes) seriously loved my outfit, she like...freaked out over it and told me its time that she ships me away to europe or something and went off on her mini rant on how crappy americans are and that they don't know how to dress, and that shes shocked to see me actually dress up, and that shes impressed, and that I'm ready for Paris, etc. etc. Yea, shes nuts. I'm a rare breed of intellectual/adventurer(aspiring hardcore mountaineer)/fashion designer. Try to find one of those around. You wont!!
  5. this is getting a bit out of hand haha
  6. Sorry Rob, I meant to respond but I must have forgotten. I appreciate your offer. Seattle is a bit far north, and I don't think I plan on going there anytime soon...but once I am out of school, I'll probably head out there with (hopefully I'll have made some equally harcore close friends of mine), and then we can meet up. I have no problem meeting strangers in other locations as long as I have some of my own people with me. I'd love to meet anyone and everyone who climbs mountains, really.
  7. shit my blog has been discovered haha! but seriously, just a fashion experiment I have started. Now that the secret is out, I'll admit that I'm an aspiring fashion designer, just one of my hobby's. Honestly, some of my best outfits I have still to post sometime soon, so stay tuned to www.darasius.blogspot.com for some more sweet outfits!! Okay, people think I'm a freak now...great.
  8. dude, what the hell??? so I wrote out that long response for nothing?? To my knowledge, there wasn't anything bad being said in that thread, and yes there was some good tips/suggestions, I want those to come back because I didn't get a chance to jot them down in my notebook. Thanks for whoever is the culprit..... *growls*
  9. Since everyone is trying their absolute hardest to provoke a reaction from me, allow me to provide some (even further) clarification. 1. I have no car. Therefore I have no convenient means of transportation. In order to climb, I have to kind of get to my outdoor destinations of choice. As a result, most times I'm stuck wanting to go on adventures but realizing that (gasp!!) I have no way to get there!!! Which makes it essential that I meet people and organize trips with them. 2. If I could, I would do this on my own. I would get out there, practice and climb until I die of exhaustion because I freaking LOVE it so much. I live for it, and being stuck in school is not making me a very happy camper. 3. I do not get along with people too well, and I am kind of a shy person, so I view this forum as a way in which I could get my word out there and maybe get in touch with some people in my area or nearby that want to organize trips. As long as we have a shared purpose(to climb mountains), I can get along with people just fine. Also, the biggest point to me posting in this forum is to get advice and suggestions. I know its stupid to meet random strangers and then venture out into the middle of wilderness with them, but my objective is to organize trips with small expedition teams(4-5 members). That way if one of them ends up being some creepy weirdo sort, chances are some other people in the group will intervene and protect me. I have no intention or desire to venture out with some random stranger alone. Also, I usually meet any potential climbing buddies locally so I can get to know them, discuss plans with them, and go for a run to see where we both stand in terms of fitness ability, before I proceed further. 4. I will never actually go travel to meet some stranger who is not local and who offers climbing opportunities. Because think of it logically, what makes me think that I upon meeting this "helpful/generous" guy, that he wont have entirely different motives in mind. And I can just see myself now, eager to go tackle some peaks, and instead I get a sly evil pervy grin from him and the single remark "well, lets drive to my house so we can have sex" yea, real pleasant situation!! 5. I am not faking anything, this is not a joke. And please do not compare me to stupid pathetic flakers like that cindy whatever chick. I have no idea who the hell she is and have no interest in hearing about her aimless attemps to seduce some random dudes on this site. The objective is extremely crystal clear for me and let me spell it out for you: I WANT TO CLIMB MOUNTAINS. If you ever want to meet up with me, that is all you will ever hear or get from me. I mean, you have to be kidding me??? I am DEAD SET determined, focused and do not play around with me on here, as I am not trying to do so to others. Ever since about 5 years ago, I have set off on local adventures by myself, wandering the central coast rocky and rugged beaches during times of low tide for extremely long distances, oftentimes all day-and oftentimes requiring some rock climbing ability just to get from one beach to the next one. I have hiked and jogged and scrambled my way up multiple local mountains, gone on 9 mile runs regularly(I just started this about 3 months ago and currently suffering from a knee injury), wandering very long stretches of sandy beaches, exploring distant locations that take hours of stomping through the sand and up high dunes, and basically strenghtening and strenghtening myself even further because I know this is ESSENTIAL for my future mountaineering goals. I love every moment that I am out there, but at this point in my life I am looking for more challenge and want to start learning how to successfully perform and complete the more technical routes that involve gear use. Instruction and demonstration and practice come into play here. Meeting more experiencing climbers provides a very good opportunity to not only connect with fellow enthusiasts, but to gain the valuable knowledge and skill required for this sport at a lower cost, than to say, enroll in classes. The oftentimes structured nature of official outdoor courses do not appeal to me. They are valuable, but I want to just be out there not having to wait around for other (sometimes more weak participants) before I get my turn. And then if the desire seizes me, I want to just do as I please and run off and try my hand at some other route or trail and to increase my pace as desired without having to be shouted at that I can't "break away from the group". I know this may appear contradictory, that I am both looking to create expedition groups, and that I want to do things my way. I understand that enrolling in classes would be a good opportunity to meet people that are a good match to my strength and ability, but they cost unecessary amounts of money when I can get the same type of instruction from more experienced climbers who I can go on trips with. 6. At this time, I have signed up for a trip to climb Mt. San Gorgonio through outdoorsclub.org. I have been keeping in touch with the trip coordinator and he seems to be very helpful about it. Also I will get at least SOME winter climbing experience before I try to advance to more difficult tasks, such as Mt. Shasta and others. I also plan to go to the local outdoors gear store called REI sometime this week to learn more about winter climbing gear, to discuss what gear would be needed for a safe climb, and for other just general discussions about weather conditions, and see what recommendations they give me. My school offers some outdoor adventure trips, but they are pretty wussie and too easy. Honestly. I have tried to go over and talk to them to suggest trips that could be organized for more experienced hikers like me, but they seem to not listen and not care much for what I have to say. I am an experienced hiker, but I have not done any winter climbing, and I want to get into climbing higher and higher mountains. None of the above story is fabricated, I am a genuine honest person with a true passion, trying to do what I can to make my dream a possiblity. Also, the whole "ultimate dream" thing is obviously used for the whole "rhetoric effect" purpose to exaggerate my point in order to bring attention to it.... And I am studying Philosophy, I am a rare breed of the intellectual/adventurer sort. Try to find one of those around!! You wont!
  10. Thank you for the advice, some of the things said in this forum were helpful. I am genuinely interested, no harmful intentions with some of the remarks I have made, I'm simply just speaking my mind and responding to some point that was brought up. I'm still in the learning phase and haven't really gotten out there to test out my abilities, so always looking for climbing/instructional opportunities. All I am saying is that it is more safe to be accompanied by someone who knows what they are doing and who I could therefore learn from. For anyone who knows more about it, is the end of March a good time to attempt a Mt. Shasta climb?
  11. Hi there, I have signed up to take a 3 day trip to summit Mt. San Gorgonio for Presidents day weekend. Anyone interested to join me? I'm a 20 year old female student located in Santa Monica California, we can meet in the area to discuss plans prior to the trip. I ALSO have a trip to Mt. Shasta planned for either March 21-22-23 or April 18-19-20 On a side note, I am planning to do both the Colorado Trail and the John Muir trail(including a Mt. Whitney climb) this summer. If anyone is interested in any of the above mentioned trips, please contact me Thanks!
  12. wealth? Well let me provide some further clarification. I'm a philosophy major, meaning that I'm preparing myself for a lifelong commitment to poverty and starvation haha And..all guys are pervs, they only differ in whether or not they decide to show it. And even those that decide to not show it can eventually be tracked down to fall into the former category, simply because they decide to utilize the "i play nice, provide emotional support and put up the facade known as the 'caring attitude' in order to better gain access to what I want and therefore increase my chances of success with said female" strategy. Oh cmon, you know its true haha
  13. unfortunately, for all you hopefuls I won't be offering any sexual services in exchange for climbing opportunities haha Kind of an insult to women since it implies that they cant do it on their own. And now of course I will be getting a flood of responses saying "But Darija! you mentioned that you're in search of someone that could offer to take you on a mt. Rainier climb, so you're saying you cant do it on your own then!" Well theres a big difference between trying to coerce the guy into taking me on a trip with the promise of sexual favors and simply seeking sound advice and perhaps a few like-minded individuals(both male and female), who are in a similar transitional stage(looking to get into mountaineering) as me and so we could therefore get in touch and both help each other progress and learn together. That being said, I wonder if there is any sponsorship offered to female mountaineers who can perform well and look good and really fit while they do so, therefore assisting in increasing the sports popularity, and as a result, its revenue. (only kidding, but hell if such a deal came up I'd take it in seconds haha)
  14. And I checked out the mountaineers group and of course they demand some stupid membership fee. Damnit, they all want money out of you. Screw it, I think that I'm going to start trying to find ways to do it on my own, theres no other way! Thats how the real explorers managed to achieve their goals. But you have to admit, its more difficult for a solo female, because they have to worry about SO many more safety issues with so many freaks and weirdos stalking around waiting to take advantage of you and then kill you. I know its not safe for anyone to go out into the mountains on their own, but females have EXTRA very stupid and annoying concerns that plague them, thanks to the wonderful world which in which we live in And I just recently checked out some organization by the name of "alpine ascents" that offer guides for mountaineering trips, and I just love how they demand a $20,000 deposit for the everest trip, not to mention expenses spiral up into the $45,000 range. how lovely. kill me now (of course I'm not stupid enough to be seriously considering an everest trip with my limited mountaineering experience and young age, I was just curious how much they want to suck you dry)
  15. Yes, Denali is something I would like to work up to, and then eventually Everest I'm telling you right now that I'm hardcore about this, and people my age aren't exactly set on mountaineering to the extent that I am. Hell, they probably haven't even given it a thought considering how much commitment and determination it takes. I know, I know..I need to keep looking, and that is what I am trying to do. I NEED to find a "motivated partner" and thats precisely what I'm trying to do. I keep hoping that the "experienced tough fit" mountaineer will miraculously show up and proclaim to me "Why, I'm heading on a Mt. Rainier(or something of the sort) climb! Want to come along??" and then I say yes, and live happily ever after... *still waiting* haha
  16. bunch of perverts haha
  17. Well, I would love for it to be so easy. The thing is, I do not have any major mountaineering experience and need to learn the techniques required to climb at higher elevations. outdoor expedition schools=$$$$ going out on my own=$$$$ people I know who are serious minded and who I can join on treks into the mountains=pretty close to zero. Thats why I'm posting in this forum. With transportation issues and lack of steady income...it is very difficult for me to "just do it". It is also safer to have others with you...and very very very few people my age are set on mountaineering...
  18. problem is....I could ALWAYS do it on my own, and would actually prefer it to be that way...BUT..I'm a student. Being a student and money do not mix very well I'm experiencing a great deal of restrictions and limitations as a result..and it seems like nobody my age has the right amount of patience and determination and commitment to train as I do. I just cant find the right people, and I want to start at an early age. I was hoping to meet someone that has more experience in the mountains and with gear use, and could therefore teach me something. And...I should totally look into creating my own Discovery show...imagine that! As of now, there are no prominent female adventurers that people can look up to and admire for their strength/skill/ability, and that way..I could reach my potentials as the "ultimate explorer", and in the meantime show how its done on tv. Any advice on how I could go about doing that?
  19. Hello, I'm a 20 year old female student located in Santa Monica, California, and I am extremely passionate about outdoor adventure and wandering-mainly long distance backpacking and endurance hiking. I am in very good shape and train regularly, intent on increasing my fitness level. I am looking to challenge myself even further, and have been absolutely dying to get into high elevation mountaineering and want to learn the more advanced techniques required for this activity. I really want to start mountaineering, and have been constantly fantasizing about the prospects of getting out there and participating in the many expeditions that are organized by more competent mountaineers in the outdoor community. I have been experiencing difficulty with finding ways in which I could get started (enrolling in outdoor leadership school is too expensive!!), and would potentially like to become a mountaineer guide. I know that there are many people out there that are or were in my position-who are very ready and willing to take the next step in their progression to climb in more challenging methods. Anyone who shares my passion and interests....anyone who is looking into forming a small expedition group...I would love to hear from you. If there is anyone that could help me make this a possibility, I would worship you forever. I have the motivation, I have the strength, the only thing that is missing is the opportunity.
