If you can tell the difference then you should already know the answer.

My friends with the worst climbing related injuries were roped.
You have the same elements of control over the risk you take bouldering, soloing or roped climbing. The edges between them can blur. When does a high-ball become a solo? A bouldery start ends at the first clip/piece.
With the exception of top-roping you are generally risking serious injury on some level and rely on your judgment and skill to save your ass.

I've noticed that your guitar, Van Halen and 80's metal thread count has been down lately. What's up? You didn't even reply to the Triple Rectifier or JCM800 thread?!

I just noticed yesterday that I own a lot of brown shirts...

Climbing's got nothing on what I used to do to myself skateboarding.

I forgot about the limits on t.Let's define that 3t^2 value...Are we talking (3*t)^2 or 3(t^2)?
It makes a difference, and algebraic hierarchy would say that it is 3(t^2).
So I agree the result is the only the top half of your curve. Since t is never negative (according to rob's given values for t), you cannot have negative values of y.
-
Sketch the curve
x = 3t^2, y = 2 + 5t
for 0 <= t <= 2

I'd want to know how far I would swing out if I released myself from the anchor and how long it to take to be swinging less than a few feet or so.

Droppin' science like when Galileo dropped his orange...

The fall factor comes from the fact that the spring coefficient of the rope is inversely proportional to the length of rope that's in use. I'll defer to Richard Goldstone for the rest of the proof:OK I got one (not multi-variable calculus, but fun nevertheless): show from Newton's laws that the fall factor is length of rope divided by fall distanceFF = l/d
Be sure to include any assumptions you make (e.g. the rope behaves like an ideal spring where f = kx). Bonus points if you include a free body diagram.

Somebody should write an iPhone App version of

for use on lead.

I realized that just as I posted.You should send it to Joe. It appears from the top of this page that he might need it... -
I can send you a copy of my thesis if you want. It's filled with gems just like that one. A good cure for insomnia.How about this one?WOW! If I just had that in my head while climbing I would be a bad ass

How about this one?

Page 2? Seriously?!

You're right, you should get a netbook.I just need something portable that will run a spreadsheet, a PPT, or a word doc, and allow me to spray 24/7 from anywhere on earth. Seems like netbooks do all that in a cheap, small format.Look on CL. Lots of people are probably unloading them after getting a magical iPad. Cash in before they come to their senses.

Red Bull isn't going to be out there micro-managing all of these projects but it doesn't matter if they're directly responsible or not. You want to punish the kid and the guides you go after their bankroll: Red Bull.

Ma blonde est de Québec. Nous allons voyager en France à quelque temp. Je voudrais visiter les montagnes des Pyrenées et des hauts Alps et peut-être Bretagne aussi. Je doute que nous grimperions.
