  1. Golden! You win!
  2. Use all the expensive gear I accumulated working 2 years at MEC in Calgary. Shasta, Adams, multiple Hood for training and entertainment Ski my ass off out of the hospital.
  3. That would be a solid "No". The avi conditions on the SS are a little more mellow, but that don't make it a good idea when there are poor conditions. Hood's fun, but not worth dying for. Let shit settle up a bit then giv'er.
  4. I found verticals to shear less ice and "fit" better in ice with a lot of vertical texture where a more delicate touch was preferred. I've climbed with the new BD Cyborgs and love 'em, but have done quite well in the same conditions with my BD Sabretooths. If you want versatility, go horizontal, should you be a bad ass ice guru who wants to do a lot of mixed as well, go vertical.
  5. "Jesus may love you, but everyone else thinks you're an asshole" always brings a chuckle
  6. Was plenty cold and icy in the Bow Valley and surrounding environs last season.

  12. Hey there, BD Sabertooths are always a good choice as the come with bots and are good for a wide array of activities. A bit heavy for ultralighters, though. BD Neve is a good aluminum 10 pointer. Light, but a bit soft for late spring summer if ya get a lot of rocks. Botts are nice, keep the clumping down and the newer ones fit quite nicely and are quick to remove if you wish. I use a Petzl 'pon case unless I'm going light then face the points together and wrap with straps.
  13. Looking for someone wanting to hike up to the crevasses on White River glacier and do some climbing on Tuesday. Kinda early start (0730ish) Would like someone comfortable belaying lead and leading grade 3ish ice and comfortable with snow anchor building. Let me know Ken 503-477-0353 kpicard4@yahoo.com
  14. excellent. Thanks for the info.
  15. Being a newbie to the site and just returning to PDX from Canada I am severely interested in getting some dry tooling in and will have the whole month of July off to play. Anyone wanting to hook up and play PLEASE let me know. I know I'm an unknown to the community here and understand folks not wanting to go out with an unknown, but I'm decent and have at least half a brain.

  17. Cheers, I'm returning to Oregon after a few years in the Canadian rockies and am interested if there are any developed dry tooling areas around or if anyone would be interested in building a few. I'm also on the lookout for ice partners this coming winter for Washington ice and if it works out my annual icefields parkway climbing fest in February.
