  1. Their note said they had fuel and food. Perhaps too little of both. What would the fuel be used for if it wasn't a stove?

  3. What do you call this? That refers to a post made on the board to all, it wasn't directed to me personally.
  4. That's not my fault. Many (including at least one admin) kept whining that there should be a separate thread and I got tired of it. It took 10 seconds to start one, but they wouldn't do it. They'd rather complain. Now they've got one, and that complaint is no longer valid. They'll have to find something else to whine about. If you don't like it, complain to the powers at be.
  5. No known moderator has requested anything of me, nor have I engaged in any discussion with anyone about the title of this thread, so I don't know where you're getting your information. And you can stop with the name calling and exhibit some class. If you have that in you. Perhaps the title can be changed, I haven't tried. I might consider it if you change your viscous tone. Isn't spray another word for flaming? As in, insulting? That isn't the purpose of this thread, so no, it doesn't belong there. It's only that way for now cause certain individuals are making it that way.

  7. I'm not familiar with the device or how to use it, but it was pointed out that it wouldn't have saved them anyway due to weather and summit accessibility. The cell phone pings told where they probably were. On the other hand, if there are really pictures of them at the summit, that means they weren't overly concerned enough about the weather at that point to at least forget the pictures and so something else. Doesn't it come down to when they might have made the decision to use the device if they had it? (turn it on or whatever you do to signal). Is it line of sight? Does it cut through clouds? I've been involved in CAP SARs and ATC wants you to call them at the first sign of trouble. It's when people wait too long to ask for help as if they don't want to be a bother that costs them sometimes.
  8. With all the people who obviously climb all parts of Mt. Hood, I most definitely and wholeheartedly believe that the remaining two will be found. Sooner or later. Further, it wouldn't surprise me if there were those out there who never gave up the search until then. However long it takes.
  9. Indications are, and it is believed, that none of them had been on it.
  10. No one is stopping you or he. There's now a thread for that. Facts here, speculation there. Thanks.
  11. I could lash back at that, but choose not too, at least for now. I had enough of that last night with pink, Lamebone, and Dr. Flush not-so-Amazing. Instead, I will pray that some way, somehow, you and others like you all will come to know the very God that created you AND the mountains you climb.
  12. This thread is for facts. There is now another thread to discuss any and all speculation, called 'Mt. Hood events speculation.' You can find it under the list of forums. Please limit your spec. to that area. Thank you.
  13. Your brother is a class veteran.
  14. Yet one more example of true class.
  15. My point is proved once again while 'veterans' make their own case. All I have to do is sit back and watch. Newbies ignorance of climbing is more than balanced out by some people's ignorance of God. Lord, may the climber's families never come to this site.
  16. First, I tried to make the same point, but certain 'veterans' are in denial. Second, I clicked on that link, and the person running that blog said that comments posted to it will be read by the family. There's also a link over to the right of that blog which points to this site, and I pray that someone close to the family who is familiar with this site and all that's on it will make a bee line run to that blogger, and plead with them to remove the link. Short of that, they should advise the family to not click on it. With all they've been through and the class they exhibit, they don't need to be anywhere near cascadeclimbers dot com. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/fea/home/stories/072806dnlivNHG_jameshouse.4a5a6b.html There are 'veterans' posting here who don't deserve to type the names of these people.
  17. It should be yanked out of disrespect and content, much less the profanity. They don't care about profanity on this site. No one who really knew Jerry personally would make such a post about Kelly. How lame.
  18. Thanks, but it's all good. All I care about is that dallas-friend understood it. The rest can jump on me all they want, just before they, um, take a hike. Btw, any friend of Kelly is a friend of mine. No questions asked.
  19. Knowing better, I started to respond, but the post wasn't worth the finger energy to type it. That clown knew nothing about his family situation.
  20. The criticism of speculators, ('rubberneckers' as they are now being called) is unfair when you repeatedly say that this is not the thread for it, and even some suggest a new thread. Then when the new thread is started, those same people go over to it and insult any who may post there before it even gets started. You can't have it both ways. Either it's ok in the proper thread/topic, or it should not be allowed anywhere. Which is it going to be? Right now, there's more criticism of the speculation than actual speculation. In the same way you hate such people being here, when a new thread is started, why keep complaining in that new thread? That's ludicrous.
  21. 21-ML-47253-ML- While it's good to have a thread for wild speculation, emotions will run high and by moving this thread to Spray I hope to minimize the need for moderator/administrator oversight and intervention.
  22. Several in the Mt. Hood thread (including admins) have suggested that a separate topic be started for speculation, but no one ever starts one. So here, I'm doing it. If you don't like speculation or 'what if' or debate over what might have happened or regurgitation and analysis of info. derived from press conferences, interviews, and the media, this isn't your place. And if you don't want to post to this thread, don't, but then don't post to the other one either, cause this one is here now. You have no excuses. Cheers!
  23. I don't think there's anything wrong with following the sheriff's lead here and speculate about the direction of tracks and who made them.... anchors, what they're made of, who they belong to and how long they've been there.....ropes and whether or not they were cut with a knife...who did or didn't make it to the summit....where the climbers may be right now....which cave was made first or second.....who equipment belonged to, etc etc. If it's good enough to do with cameras and mics around, to be broadcast all over the world, surely we can do it here with far less viewers. Perhaps the people allergic to speculation should be the ones to 'go away.' And while you're away, don't watch any press conferences or read any reports, 'official' or otherwise, cause we've established now that it's all speculation. There are no witnesses, and therefore worthless to anyone for any reason.
