  1. Thanks for the clean removal and anchor replacement!
  2. Heading to City of Rocks tomorrow 5/3 around 4pm from Portland, returning late Monday 5/6. Meeting a couple friends out there, but would like to share the ride, and even out the number of climbers. I'm down for trad or sport. It's beautiful out there.
  3. I was thinking of checking out the ice at Alpental or going to Exit 38, but i'm open to other ideas.
  4. Little last minute, but anybody wanna climb something this weekend? Sat or Sunday, but 1-day climb preferred. Been a couple years since i led on ice, but i used to lead 4s. Been climbing ~8 years, 3 winters of ice (New England). Would prefer to climb with someone with similar or more experience. Chair Peak?
  5. Sounds like they will, woohoo! http://www.alpinist.com/ Alpinist Re-launched by Owners of Backcountry, Telemark Skier Magazines Jeffersonville, Vermont — January 16, 2009 — Height of Land Publications (HOL), owners of Backcountry and Telemark Skier Magazines, closed on a deal today that lays the groundwork for the resurrection of Alpinist Magazine. Alpinist, a premium quarterly celebrating mountaineering and the climbing life, closed its doors this fall, just prior to the release of Issue 26. The new owners, HOL, plan to release Issue 26 on March 1, and will honor all current subscriptions. "Alpinist fits perfectly into our family," says HOL president and publisher Jon Howard. "We feel climbers, mountaineers, and backcountry and freeheel skiers all share the same DNA. It's, at times, about being bold; at times about being cautious. Kind of like how we do business." And at HOL, they feel it's a great time to be bold. Jon and HOL partner and Backcountry editor Adam "Howie” Howard are currently in negotiations with the editorial staff at Alpinist to determine who will be at the helm. "We've asked Christian Beckwith to stay on as Editor," Adam says. "I reached him in Mexico where he's doing some non-profit work. After seven years of grinding, he's enjoying some relative downtime. But he's genuinely excited that we're carrying his creation forward. We'll be meeting in person in the next few weeks. Should he not come on full time, Alpinist readers can be assured that someone of comparable skills and pedigree will fill his shoes." Readers can also look forward to the same quality of paper and a large format size. "We want to honor what the Alpinist team has done," Jon says. "It's a piece of art. And we plan keep it that way."
  6. Yeah, but after partying until 2:30 alpine starts become really cruxy. We knew we were starting late (especially with the botched approach involving 2 short belays), but man, the E face looked sweet! Windy and cold, but a spectacular climb. Saw the helo and a headlamp north of us from the ridge, around 6:30, but it was definitely too blustery for them to land. Hope the climber is ok.
  7. I'd like to get out tomorrow or on the weekend. Have work tomorrow, so i could leave seattle around 4ish. I also lead around 5.10 sport/trad. I'd prefer Index, if it's dry.
  8. WWI area, left end. Found 8/2/07, let me know if you think they're yours, otherwise... they fit me.
  9. Unfortunately my camera also crapped out just before the climb, so I only got a couple of pics of the approach, not really worth posting. The flaring chimney was pretty brutal. Even seconding that pitch, knowing that I had to start facing one way, then turn around didn't help me climb it clean. Or keep me from bashing up my knee and ripping my pants. The last pitch was hella strenuous too, just kept coming at you. Fortunately we got down just before the rain hit. Somehow my partner misread his watch and we thought we were going to make it in time for Gustav's last call until we realized it was getting dark and it was actually 2 hours later. No beer=Epic!
  10. Just a warning to others, my car was broken into on Sat sometime before we got back to the car at 12:30am. Fortunately my rack was still there, but they took my prescription glasses. On the happier side, Prusik South Face was awesome!
  11. Nice. Actually, next time i should just post in spray, which seems to be where everyone's at. Hey 12000 posts, time to change your oil. Thanks Sherri, i've got a couple possible takers now. wirlwind - really? I don't think i got it. Unless I accidentally deleted it without reading.
  12. Come on people, 71 views, no replies. I'm a safe climber with 6 years of steady climbing experience. I'll even drive, and we can listen to your music... I'm not going to beg though.
  13. Looking to get lots of trad mileage in this weekend (5.8 to 5.10-), in prep for a Squamish trip next weekend. Preferably Leavenworth, but I could be talked into something else... Can leave after work Fri. PM or email me
  14. I'm also looking for partners. Looks like similar interests/experience. Check your PMs.
  15. Anyone wanna climb on Thursday (5/24) after work? Exits 32/38 are best for me. I'd be leaving from Capitol Hill a little after 4.
