Oh, I hate the commie pissant. I just don't advocate murder. Scott, if you think Obama is a communist, you clearly haven't studied the tenents of communism very much

The fact that you don't know these safeguards are already in place disqualifies you from further commentary on this subject. When you buy a firearm you are subject to an automatic FBI background check and, unless you have a CWP, there is a 3 to 5 day wait. The check does not include the serial number of the weapon and the record of the check is supposedly purged after 12 or 18 months. If the states can't keep track of mental patients then something certainly needs to be done about that. I can't think of anyone who wants mental patients with guns. How would registering guns solve this problem? Really? Hmm, last time I checked I could purchase a firearms without any background check or waiting period -- from a friendly private seller! Hell, if I was a felon or a mental patient, a firearm is as close as the nearest classifieds ad. Look what I can buy here! No background checks needed! Felons and mental patients welcome! And it's even got a bayonet, for after you blow through the 300+ rounds of ammo (included). But, I'm glad to hear that you support legislation to close this loophole. It's a little surprising, since you crazy gun fuckers have usually fought to the death for the right to sell your guns privately to felons and mental patients.

The status quo--as of today--is just fine with me. You OK with that? Which guns legal today do you think should be banned? I'm OK with the status quo, except I'd like to see more protections put into place to make sure that people who already can't buy weapons (felons and crazy people) really can't buy them. For example, that Virgina Tech shooter wasn't allowed to buy them, but he did anyway. Fairweather, do you support simple background checks to verify that gun purchasers are not felons or mental patients?

Great discussion, I've learned a lot. Well, for one thing, if the threads went to the top, and you had to tie off short, the threads would cut the sling

I don't think it's that simple, at all. What "arms" were you given the right to bear? Tanks? Artillery? What "arms", if any, are you willing to outlaw? Should people be able to own nuclear weapons? Where does it stop? Surely you agree with some form of gun control, as I doubt many would argue that citizens should be allowed to own nuclear weapons. So, where do you draw the line? I don't think it's "simple as that."

nah, you don't do any of that urban legend stuff, you just eat the caps like normal. They're not THAT toxic. In fact, you can detoxify them and eat them like food if you want. Most poisonings occur when people mistake them for death caps, which WILL kill you.

You do want to express yourself, don't you?

Clearly, unions are to blame for this.

This is a good point. The gun nuts are so busy worrying about their guns that they aren't doing shit to push back against the free-for-all abuse of our other constitutional rights. Voting for candidates that aren't in the election as a "protest" is a pretty impotent way of fighting for our rights. Realistically, I prob need guns, not to protect myself from the government, but to protect myself from the gun nuts.

If your rifles + unconventional warfare are enough to take on the U.S. government, then why are we spending so much money on toys? 225+ years ago, we fought muskets with muskets. We didn't go up against the british with spears, which is analogous to the firepower American citizens have against the U.S. Military might. If you want to use Afganistan vs. Russia as an example of how "all you need are AKs", then are you admiting that we have no chance of success in that campaign, ourselves? If the U.S. Army can defeat ill-equipt guerrillas in Iraq and Afganistan, as the republicans claim is happening, then why could they not defeat ill-equipt guerrillas here in the U.S.? Your arguments are full of holes when you try to claim that your rifles are a deterrent to the U.S. Government's military.

Amanita muscaria is not a good hullucinogen anyway. I'd strongly recommend sticking with psilocybin, it's a much better high, and safer. Or, so I've read.

If there were a band of domestic terrorists waging war against the United States and the Constitution, you would refuse an order to open fire on them because they're your "brothers and sisters?" I thought you were a military man. Remember the Civil War? The U.S. Army sure didn't have a problem firing upon their "brothers and sisters" then. Why is Fort Knox protected by the military? Sounds like the military would never think to attack U.S. citizens. We should just walk over there, kick open the gate and take some of that gold.
