  1. He was a criminal. The Bush Administration turned him into the Second Coming of Lucifer, spent trillions, and couldn't even get a third Republican term for it. The country's finances are in the shitter and we've bankrupted a couple of generations for a trustafarian dirtbag who got lucky. Whoops?
  2. No, but he was always more neocon fabrication and paranoid fantasy than anything else. The post-Cold War diversion through the Funhouse was great. It's over. Let's get back to solving real problems.
  3. It's a pretty straightforward argument... [video:youtube]
  4. Singling out and deriding prison planet isn't really necessary, the non-existence of al-Qaeda has been confirmed by experts, mainstream and otherwise, for years.
  5. The Fog of Bore.
  6. LOL! And for you the "right number" is more. The question has always been which ones, not "less gubmint = more freedom" or the opposite, numbnuts. Time to recall the centurions from our far-flung imperial outposts...
  7. If the decision to "take bin Laden out" from the get-go was even partially based on the desire to avoid an endlessly mediated, hyper-politicized cluster of a detention and circus trial, then I'm for it. One death to save the brains of millions. Let's move the fuck on and start dismantling the war machine.
  8. Gee Whiz, this image alone makes me wonder why he wasn't brought back to the US for trial. Can you imagine?
  9. Freedom to what?
  10. What exactly do you want to see in terms of evidence and why?
  11. Is there a story here? The Obamas are opportunistically pandering to the wall to wall, 24-7, in your face, ratings driven reality show and not surprisingly looking silly when some of the micro-factual details that nobody but armchair Call of Duty playing dipshits give a fuck about contradict each other. Big Fucking Deal.
  12. Those cases were practically being debunked while the Bush Administration was concocting them. Doesn't say much about the chances of a conspiracy of this scale succeeding does it?

At the time, Bill Clinton agreed. Of course, he eventually caved to the pressure and released it. From '94:
  14. What ever hubbub there is (is there one, really?) stems from the administration's inability to learn the lessons from the Shirley Sherrod flap, namely that it's not necessary and in fact could be a liability to pander to the ambulance chasing, meth-head tabloid media. A measured, thoughtful, managed approach is not necessarily anathema to transparency.
  15. I am a taxpayer and I just have a few questions...
  16. I'm entitled to have my doubts laid to rest.
  17. As I've said here before, it's the economic whack-jobs and that have done the real lasting damage around here. Since Democrats and Republicans have been on the same page as far as economic policy is concerned, it's easier for establishment liberals to point fingers at bible-thumping opportunists than deal with the legacy of neoliberal restructuring.
  18. That's just because the Canadian people (like America up to the late-70's) have never allowed the full flowering of the conservative fart-blossom like we've had here. Most Canadian liberals and progressives I talked to when I lived there took a "it couldn't happen here" approach when looking across the border at the American political and social scene. I hope that attitude changes a bit.

  21. (2) The second thing we are calling you to is...to get yo' drank on, Biaatch!
  22. Seriously, why is Canada about 30 years behind everyone else? Somebody should tell them the 70's ended. Neoliberal policies are as stale as Harper's hairdo.
  23. Yeah, it's like expired Viagra for the body politic.
  24. Also, the military codename for Osama was "Geronimo". We are a very tacky people.
