I'm coming through Leavenworth on Monday or Tuesday and may have time to get on some ice, if there indeed is any right now. If you are available/interested, please text or call me at 971-717-1334. -Cam

Thanks both of you for the info. A friend of mine passed by Banks Lake yesterday and said that everything was wet, nothing climbable.

I'm wondering about conditions in Central WA - Banks Lake, Soap Lake, Vantage, etc... Haven't been out there this year (or ever) and not sure if it's worth the drive from the Methow Valley. Even some information on what temps and conditions tend to form climbable ice would be helpful. Thank you! I'll be happy to relate what I see on this thread if I indeed make it out there.

Thanks! I found this link, and, though it doesn't say "Mist Falls," I think it's beta on the same place http://www.northwestoregonrock.com/ss/gorgeice-s.pdf Looks like there's potential for multiple other moderate lines there. You by chance get a look at any of them, aside from the one you said had some sketchy icicles hanging above it? I have not climbed ice in the Gorge, which is why I have so many questions.

Thanks for the report and pics! How was the wind?

Ok, thanks. Keep my number in case any other opportunities come up this winter. I'll be unemployed in Portland for the next month with tools, screws, etc. ready...

Anyone know if there's climbable ice in the Gorge right now? If there is and you'd like to take some swings (however gentle they may have to be) I am free Friday and would love to climb. I have a couple years of experience on ice and was leading WI4 a few years ago, but I have just returned from 2 years of life in Spain, including its sunny sport-climbing scene that had no ice, so I'm going to be more reliable as a follower/belayer than leader on anything serious. I can work my way up most things as a follower. I am safe and pretty conservative, with rock, alpine, snow, and trip-leading (I'm an outward bound instructor, so one hell of a belayer) experience... GIve a call 971-717-1334 if anyone is free. Name's Cam. I am currently in PDX but have never climbed Gorge ice. I have a car and can meet anywhere in PDX at any hour. I could be talked into going out and exploring even if we don't know what's in. Cheers...

Hey folks, if y'all find out that any of that ice is formed and you'd like to take some swings (however gentle they may have to be) I am free Friday and would love to climb. I have a couple years of experience on ice and was leading WI4 a few years ago, but I have just returned from 2 years of life in Spain, including its sunny sport-climbing scene that had no ice, so I'm going to be more reliable as a follower/belayer than leader on anything serious, but could work my way up most things as a follower. I am currently in PDX but have never climbed ice in the Gorge. I have a car and can meet anywhere in PDX at any hour. I know there's a partner forum but it seems like folks don't always check it. Let me know if my post is grossly out-of-line in this forum and I'll delete it. Cheers...

Anybody know if the route is still in? Thanks.

Thanks ... guess i'll leave this up in hopes of a cold spell next week

I'll be down from Seattle staying with family in Portland next week, looking for anyone who needs a partner for a day trip to the ice in the Gorge (if there is any). I haven't climbed there so you'd have to be the tour guide, more or less. It's my third season climbing ice, can lead WI 3s and maybe some easier 4's, but I am safe and can provide the rope and belay on the harder stuff. If I'm a total idiot and there's no chance of ice being there next week, let me know and I'll delete this. Let me know if you're up for it. Cameron @ 503-880-8673

I know it's late, but my partners are unavailable for tomorrow and the weather looks gorgeous. I'm up for climbing, whether it be ice, alpine, or even rock I suppose. Skiing works too. No car but can use bus to get around Seattle and met you somewhere and I have gas $$. Give me a ring if you are up for it (late is fine, so is early morning). 503.880.8673 -Cameron

Wandering if anyone in Seattle area wants to climb ice tomorrow. I've been up there this week and things have been decent in the Upper Alpental Valley. Would love to climb Source Lake Line or Flow Reversal but can't lead them so if you want to ropegun I'll buy the beer on the way home. Otherwise I'd be up for any of the WI3's up there. Give me a call if interested. Cheers, Cameron 503.880.8673

Looking for a pair of AT Boots size 28.5. $150 is all I can afford right now. Brand not important as long as they fit. The lighter, the better. Prefer to buy from someone in Seattle so I can come try them on first. Cheers, Cameron 503.880.8673

I have from Feb. 1-12 free and am hoping for some decent weather and a partner to climb ice in Washington, Canada, elsewhere in the PNW, or perhaps even a Wyoming or Montana trip. It's my 2nd season of ice and I'm in love with it. I generally lead WI3, will follow harder, and have been climbing other mediums for about 8 years. Winter alpine climbing is also an interest of mine, though I'm relatively new to it. I'm into throwing skis in the car if things look decent in that realm, though prefer to focus on the climbing. If anyone has interest in setting out for an adventure during this time period, let me know. Looking for someone who enjoys climbing safe, traveling as cheap as possible (winter camping at times), and is cool rolling with the punches (ie: finding other forms of "cultural adventure" when the weather sucks). Let me also lay it out there right away that I don't have a car so will be asking to ride in yours. I'm willing to travel from Seattle via bus or whatever if necessary to meet up.
