  1. "Specific situation", I would think is "what fits the best" for that situation. IMO
  2. Agreed......you cant even see them unless you look up! Jeez!!
  3. So....the Huber brother dont climb "big walls"?
  4. You place whatever fits the best!
  5. Yeah....one of them with the biggest big wall experience....whoops is that bragging. BTW Pink....I talked to heather today.
  6. Yes....its kid photo time....lets seem em!
  7. My son at 8 months......
  8. Yeah!
  9. Very insightful AF…..but what does your spray have to do with the topic at hand?
  10. Wow.....I don’t remember doing that! By the way....could you recap what the definition is? You know.....since I don’t remember doing that. Thanks.... Great pics....I tried to do that climb 11 years ago and bailed due to inexperience.
  11. I disagree....it is not a dilemma....if you cant climb it...you leave gear.....like the rest of the climbing community.
  12. i'm not sure why people do this. you have always been able to rap with a 60m rope from big ledge to top of ffs. then from there to the ground. why would anyone rap to the perch then to the middle off ffs if they're not using 50m ropes? Just one rope will get you down? I thought it was two. I think climbers rap to the "perch" because they just dont know better.
  13. Is there a problem? I was not aware of a problem. JH.....is there bolts behind the tree? Pins?
  14. I dont think there is a bolted anchor under the tree anymore.
  15. JH....that is the reason it is there in the first place. For Rapping. I guess they rapped off and made a crappy anchor then came back later and made it better and it has been there ever since.
  16. I did say chain....I mean anchor.
  17. I think you need a 70m rope to top rope it from the top chain....I think.....
  18. Should it go or should it stay? That is the question. I think it should stay the way it is......
  19. By the looks of it…..there are many different definitions of what constitutes a “big wall”. This discussion reminds me of a similar discussion my friends and I were having once around the fire while at Smith rocks……what is “head pointing”……they argued that “head pointing” was rehearsing hard climbs that are not protected well on top rope….then pulling the rope and leading them…..I argued that “head pointing” has nothing to do with the difficulty of the climb or the consequences of falling, but is truly in your own head as to will you ever lead the climb. I “head pointed” a climb at Broughtons a couple of years ago and finally got the send. I say “head point” because when I first top roped the climb I said to my self…..damn….I will never lead that…..way to scary…..well after top roping the shit out of it…I finally got I clean on top rope…..I still never thought I would have the balls to lead it….but finally one day I went for it and got the send….. For ME…..that was a “head point”.
  20. It seems to me that most peoples definition of a "big wall" has some aid in it.

Some people really have problems with spicy food. D....that is about the wittiest response from you yet.....
  22. Dude...if you're trying to grab bragging rights for a big wall by climbing that dirty deed up on Mt. Garfield, I don't think you're going to get much support...maybe you can impress one of them pad people or them folks in the gym. And ditto if you want to call yourself an "alpinist", or an "alpine big-wall master" because said dirty-deed is located on a mountain. Kevbone to Gym Rat: "yo, yo, sup, so I climbed this alpine big wall last weekend...yo...you payin' attention? I said "BIG WALL", little man!" Gym Rat to Kevbone: "Big Wall? Is that the route with the red tape?" Great post! You are very funny. Little hint for you…..I am not claiming anything….I do not call myself an alpinist or an alpine big – wall master (what ever that is?). I would say a big wall is the height of a wall…..no matter how fast one can climb it. 3000 foot wall is a big wall in my opinion. Did you check out the pictures yet? I posted them on the 4th page……
