  1. I believe the birds will nest with climbers around. The park does not.
  2. Currently 3 to 1.
  3. Please choose one.

    Super Bowel

The best thing about the super bowl is there will be no more football for a while.
  5. If one were to purswade the birds to leave peacefully. How could the "man" justify in being upset? Because they would not have their sweet little government job anymore??
  6. Post of the week.
  7. I dont want to harm the birds. Who said that? I just dont want them at Beacon anymore. Placing a giant owl on the ledge would not harm the birds in ANYWAY. BTW JH, to my knowledge this has never been tried before at Beacon. Talked about....but never tried.
  8. As you know it was already tried by climbers as part of their overall "we don't want the Peregrines to nest at Beacon" campaign to fuck themselves. How does the birds not nesting at Beacon fuck ourselves? Please explain.
  9. Jh. If you are going to spend money on a camera to watch the birds....how about spending money on a 3 foot wooden owl to bolt to Bid Ledge. It would be alot cheaper anyway you slice it. The birds would relocate to a different part of the Beacon or the Gorge and we would get year round climbing back. No harm, no fowl.
  10. Why dont you put a camera on the trail that way the lazy rangers can monitor if someone is going somewhere they are not supposed too.
  11. Lame? Why dont you buy one you cheap bastard.
  12. Quote of the day.
  13. I think this entire thread was a troll. It does make for some good cc.com talk.
  14. Top down is the best style. IMO.
  15. i think everyone here would agree with that statement.... I agree with that statement as well. I just don’t see how it is relevant to the topic at hand or Beacon Rock.
  16. Pure? Try top roping it and no bolts. Or definitely do not use a power drill. Very much a personal choice. No person can tell you what is good or bad. I personally think ground up bolting is bold but can be irresponsible. Climbs left so run-out that very few will ever climbing it and you have just wasted a bunch of rock. Of course Raindawg and Pope will tear my last few sentences to shreds with their opinion on why my opinion is the downfall of rock climbing. Nothing is cheating in climbing. NOTHING….IMO.
  17. Missed this one. Yes, this in every way is a point of difference between us - I can't imagine climbing at Beacon without the Peregrines out there as well. Beacon is the Pergrines and vice versa and they nested there for an eternity before they were nearly driven to extinction. The very statement "we don't want the birds to nest at Beacon" says it all for me - it's the essence of why you, Jim and others were and are as much of an obstacle to sanely dealing with this issue as you are. Under no circumstance would I ever not want the birds to nest at Beacon. I might wish they nested elsewhere on Beacon, but that's up to them, not us. Count me with Peregrines over you every single time in this respect. WOW. Let your true colors shine why don’t ya? Joseph, I have a question for you. If you could have no birds at all and year round climbing, or birds with the current closure set up, which would you prefer? Although I think you have already answered this, I would like to add; that Joseph’s first and foremost concern is the birds, NOT THE CLIMBING. Therefore, JH is not the person to head up ANY KIND OF relationship with the powers that be to get anything done. You are like congress; you are working both sides of the isle and will accomplish nothing. You say you are working toward getting the closure lifted yet at the same time help out the rangers with nest duties that they could not do on their own. Why? Because you love the birds more than the climbing, and there is nothing wrong with that other than you are not the guy behind the guy behind the guy for the job at Beacon. I would rather see no birds at all and have year round climbing than a forced 6 month break. I love Peregrine Falcons. I just love climbing more.
  18. Spray usually has alot of one liners. Notice we have full paragraphs here. We are trying to have a discussion about something we are all passionate about. Now if those damn birds would just DIE!!!!!
  19. JH. You rapped into big ledge with a bag of gravel to make the birds nest more comfortable? This is what I am talking about. We don’t want the birds to nest at Beacon. This point may be the difference between you and the rest of the climbers at Beacon. Everybody wants the birds to secede, just not at Beacon. Please let the park rangers do their job. Don’t offer yourself anymore. Maybe….just maybe the birds will become uncomfortable and leave Beacon altogether. If the rangers don’t have the ability to rap into big ledge….so be it.
  20. Not grid. Just one, ten feet out and up at the traverse.
  21. DAMN! [video:youtube]
  22. Thread hi-jacker!!!
  23. You can start by quit sucking up to the man.
  24. Closing YW yet keeping the trail to the top open is very far fetched.
