Looks good, agree on tricams+few WC Hexs. No need for more then 6-8 screws for most alpine (as opposed to ice climbs). Might add a picket or two for summer climbing. Bigest thing I'd say is getting out there. Worth spending on that rather then gear you can always borrow.

Any advice on climber friendly Long Term Disability? I'm up in Canada but looking for a plan that covers that.

Recommendations for a camera for climbing
robpatterson5 replied to BootsandPants's topic in Climber's Board
the S100 is a good choice, but its also expensive and fairly bulky. Compared to something like a GH2 it also does not have the best image quality. I'd sugest an inexpensive but good ultra-compact (for me the the ELPH300) or durable/waterproof camera, and a compact rangefinder camera (like the GH2) which will have better quality then the S100. -

I was looking at the S100/95 Ended up with the ELPH300 b/c of size/weight/breakability, and just not worrying about the cost of replacing it. I'm told the sensor and lens are comparable to the S95 ect & that you can hack the 300 to record RAW files (IMO the main advantage of the S95 - that and the control ring). For whitewater trips I also picked up the $50 waterproof hard case for the ELPH300 that turns it into an underwater camera. No more pelican cases! -
similar replacement to Lowe Alpine Ice Light Pant?

they sound a lot like my pair of Alpha LT pants... -
How are you patterning it so that it hugs the body yet is still easy to find something in? Thats REALLY important. Its how the pack fits and compresses so that it climbs with you and the weight is close to your back -- rather then bells and whistles. (BTW I like backs w/ a bright inner color) How can you make it haulable, yet easy to dump everything out at the Craig? Also few/no parts to break (zippers, clips, ect) Your tool loops, if I'm chimnying with a pack on -- I'm going to tear those off in 2 seconds. What about just using the side straps to carry tools/pons Euro style? Bivys? I'd have a silinylon color that went at least up to my waist. Lastly what about diagonal ski carry for ski mountaineering? Weight is KEY -- you are building a pack to have the %@#& beat out of it, yet it should weigh no more then 2lb for 40L

Ibuprofen and Tylonal taken together or alternated between at 2h intervals can be very effective for pain management with limited side effects. A day or two of heavy duty painkillers for yourself can be a good idea sometimes. Interestingly I know someone who was given perkasets(?) after shattering their shoulder in a bad ski accident... later on they started to develop the symptoms of inter-cranial bleeding, turns out the extreme nasiea and dizziness was the side effects of the drugs rather then a nurological emergency! I have wondered about bringing some 35g Quik-Clot Granules on some ice trips to go with my MaxiPad absorbent bandages. From what I hear Quik-Clot can really help to stabilize a major bleed - my fear is always harpooning myself with an axe. On some god-awefull bivys I've wished for sleeping pills, but my understanding is that the after effects are not good for climbing the morning after. That said what I WOULD recommend is that if your climbing overseas or in third world countries would be to carry antibiotics and depending on the country some surgical supplies. Especially if hospitals in the region may lack some basic supplies or be known for their inpropper sterilization or drug/blood product safety.
