  1. Okay...so are there any Trekkies out there?

What show do you like the best....

    1) Star Trek original

    2) Next Generation

    3) Deep Space Nine

    4) Voyager

    5) Enterprise

Who's your favourite character? Favourite episode? Why?

    wink.gif

(I'm SOOO gonna get roasted for this....)

    Cheers!

  2. Have you looked into Montana or Wyoming? I've been to both Bridger Bowl and Big Sky in MT and Jackson Hole in WY. In Montana, you get lots of deep powder far into the spring. I don't know about summer skiing....perhaps in Glacier? Have you thought about checking the area around Calgary or places in BC?

  3. much smaller than neutrinos? i dont mean to get into a physics discussion on a climbing forum...but i not so sure that it would be possible to detect any smaller particles without a gigantic tank of water buried several miles underground. plus, smaller particles (ie: bosons, fermions, muons, and gluons) are just as easily created, detected, and studied in a laboratory. sorry about that just had to be an asshole and set things straight.

ahhhh...Sudbury laugh.gif are we talking minute explosions and gravitational fields here? or you got other ideas? mushsmile.gif

  4. I might not be able to make it! cry.gif I called in sick today because I was sick and then decided that I would go climbing anyways because I'd die if I missed it so my boss decided that I could work on some server upgrades tonight. Its a scheduled outage soI might be able to sneak in a couple of hours and then run home and then go back out. I'll try try try. I'm glad I live in Issaquah at any rate. If I don't see you gals, have fun and thnk of me wink.gif

  5. Avid? Thank You for the compliment, but maybe you mean someone else? wink.gif I look so competent from those pictures IceGirl posted last week...especially the one where I'm about 8 feet off the ground getting ready to put my knee up onto the next move....lesson learned there...I STILL have the bruises to show for it laugh.gif

No, seriously, I asked the questions and the different feedback is interesting. I just take it in tow, as I mostly have no idea what people are talking about. Its the people like you who state your opinion and then back it up with a reason you have that particular preference and explanation of what you're talking about that I will probably mostly listen to. Like I said, I have ALOT to learn....and being a person who has learned to use my brain, I will err on the side of caution and safety(both other people's and my own). I'm not scared, just got alot of information laugh.gif

    Thanks Everybody! bigdrink.gif

  6. Hey Snowbyrd, you'll need some daisy chains for next week when we go and do some aid climbing at Index.

I dunno what aid climbing is but I'm up for a climb at Index as long as somebody more experienced says I'm ready for it laugh.gif I just need more notice. OR....maybe an overnight (Friday) camp out and a full day of climbing on Saturday/Sunday? Its just something to thnk about. wink.gif

  7. I have the BD Momentum and it worked fine for my first climb. However, my climbing instructor (a man) told me I was a size L (I'm 5'4 and about 125) and after getting out there, we found it pretty much hung off my hips when pulled tightest. I took it back and ended up with a small. I'll let you know how it works out tomorrow wink.gif If you buy at REI, you can exchange it if it doesn't work out. You'll need a belay device, locking carabiner, and a chalk bag as well. I got the 'kit' and it was a good deal...saved me about $30 if I had bought it all separately.

  8. buy your own rope

I'm hearing rope...so...next question is, what kind of a rope? Length? Width?

    Gym membership: got it.

    Mentors: got them.

Locking biners: got them. (5 enough?)

    Helmet: will buy.

Daisy Chain: What sort? (plan to stick with sport climbing for the short term while I'm learning.)

    Quick Draws: again, what sort?

    Corona: got it.

Corona is better than Pacifico...Pacifico tastes like urine. I hate pink. I'll borrow CascadeClimber's flame retardant suit. moon.gif

  9. Okay...so I have a harness, an AT device, shoes, and a locking carabiner. I've been climbing (sport) once and will ocntinue to climb a couple of times a week. What's the next step for purchasing equipment? I assume that I'll continue to learn to do more difficult climbs but in the process, probably learn to 'clean up' some of the easier ones? After that, possibly learn to lead easier ones as well (down the road a little ways, I mean.) Advice please (like I need to ask tongue.gif )
