The FACTS are: American voters turned out in high numbers to support: Republican Senators. Republican Representatives. A Republican President. Daschle wasn't just "an incumbent". He was the minority leader. He was the Democratic figurehead in DC. "Was", being the operative word.

They didn't! They turned out to support the same people who'd been in office all along! Look at the local, state and federal level - how many incumbents lost? How many races were even competitive? Where'd those seats the Republicans gained in the House come from? The Texas redistricting plan designed by Tom Delay! Where's Daschle?

David Brooks (an editor of the Weekly Standard) writing a piece legitimizing the current President. What a surprise! If the Republicans are a "broad based coalition" why'd Arlen Specter knuckle under so damn quick? Why's Olympia Snow running scared? Why's Tom Delay (the hammer) in charge of the House? Why'd the country turn out to support a Republican President, Republican Senators, and Republican Representatives?

If they don't like working in smoky conditions, don't work in that bar. The owner will find people that don't mind. If you don't like eating or drinking in smoky conditions, don't patronize that establishment. People who don't mind will, it will close, or it will become smoke free. Business owners should be able to decide for themselves.

Martlet, get lost. Here is a question for everybody...a fire burns down a forest, lets use the leavenworth 94 fire for an example. burned trees are left. THe underbrush has all been burnt away so the fire risk on the remaining land is quite low. Would you rather... a.)Have the scenery of burnt trees? b.)Have the scenery of a clear cut? Obviously I have no more knowledge of forest on this site than most people but I do know two things: 1.) If you belive Bush's administration is looking out for environmental concerns before timber company concerns you are really an idiot. 2.)Environmental groups (the large, mainstream ones) have smart people with degrees in forestry and other environment sciences working for them. I'd be willing to bet they are more informed than us and probably have a pretty good idea of what this is a dumb strategy. WTF is a "Martlet"? Perhaps the insult would be better received if I understood it. You're making many claims about a underlying motive but it's all speculation on your part.
