  1. Uh-huh. And I'll bet those fees for "running the park" also pad the bank accounts of quite a few state employees and provincial administrators. Indeed, I'll bet there's a whole huge bureaucracy, whose existence if funded by these fees. Sorry, but I don't by your claims to "the Right did it" from a gov't that was in power in the 1980's. Since then, those horrible right-wing programs could have been rolled back, but, mysteriously the lefties in power now have not done so. More social engineering from the left. Blah blah blah. In the US, fires would be just as much of an expense and our parks don't charge $8 a night for them. Canada does - Canada sucks. As for pyromania, piss off. I light a fire because its warm, cozy and fun for the kids.
  2. I toggled him off the ignore option and noticed that.
  3. Me neither. I'm intrigued that Kevboner supposedly has read *something*.
  4. There's nothing that annoys me more than tourons - HOWEVER, one must only wander off the beaten path to enjoy these places. I don't go to a place like Jasper/Banff to ride around in an RV and stuff my face with burgers at the cheap park concession stand. I drive a normal car there and spend most days doing longish day hikes, and only return to the campground (to a small backpacking tent) to eat and sleep.
  5. I read alot! Just not childrens books. OK, I'll bite. What's the last book you read Kevbone?
  6. It's not just the entrance fee - it's fees all around. They can make plenty of $$ off the tourists at the upscale resorts (and associated taxes on lodging, food, etc). But on families sleeping in tents? Lame.
  7. You charge your own citizens the same fee... as I have ALREADY pointed out, you dumb ass. And this is not about "sticking it to the Americans". You've got plenty of tourists visiting there from Europe and Asia.
  8. Fuck you asshole. my point is valid. I want to go there and pay reasonable fees, not bail entirely. If Canucks want to make their national parks into a haven for rich tourists, that's their loss - and very sad. And I'll be the first pointing it out - especially considering the hypocrisy of smug fuckhead Canucks on this forun in particular and in the Canada in general, talking about their wonderful paradise with all its 'free' perks. It's a bunch of bullshit. Bad enough to socialize your health care and tax the fuck out of people to pay for it along with the rest of your socialist utopia, but to make your national parks into a profit-earning business is even more disgraceful. And If you don't like my speaking up about that "inconvenient truth", well, tough shit.
  9. PLEASE tell me you didn't show them how to use fire! so simple a cave man could do it... but not a Canuck
  10. banff campgrounds >> NPS campgrounds. For one thing, free showers. the visitors come from overseas poach are game, pollute our waters and pay less than we do.... 1) the showers aren't free - you pay for them with the inflated camping fee 2) what kind of fucking pussy are you that you need to shower when camping for a few days, you fucking wanker bitch!
  11. our park system does a damn fine job, and charges reasonable rates for its services, and makes them accessible to the general public. irrespective of who the president is When billary is elected there will be more funding, but I doubt the fees will be increased - and definitely not to Canada's level.
  12. I pay $65 for a NPS and a forest pass together. You a-holes charge $130 for an annual pass alone. AND if I want to light a fire, it's covered under my camping fee, not like you statists a-holes, who know damn well that people want to light a fire, but split the fee to make it look more "palatable" while you fleece them.
  13. Charging $8 a night to light a fire is fleecing by the opinion of anyone without profound mental retardation.
  14. None of those are close to my work. Zeitgeist would be doable if I am in Pioneer Square for some reason (doubtful).
  15. the dumbest thread is the one having the least fun
  16. Like? I'm near Pier 66 in Seattle.
  17. Hmm. I've never had one... always thought the food was overpriced (not like the espresso isn't...)
  18. NOT. You're ignoring the fundamental question. Your socialist paradise fleeces visitors. You such horse****.
  19. \ it's better than another political debate
  20. I buy one drink there every 3-4 weeks. Either the novelty has worn off, or the quality has gone way down though, because I don't enjoy it like I did 10 years ago. And no, I don't get those long lines, especially in the morning when you are in a hurry to get to work.
  21. I never said anything of the sort. But just look at the rates, man, they fleece, and worse they nickel and dime you to death - a typical strategy for big government - lots of little taxes, fees and surcharges that add up. http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/jasper/visit/tarifs_fees_E.asp?park=3
  22. We wouldn't need to pay Canadian prices to remedy that.
  23. I can afford it. It's still fleecing. This is a national park, not a goddamn business. It's for all people to enjoy, and your Canuck citizens pay the same prices, do they not? You should be ashamed. I remember a few months ago on this same b-board when people raised bloody hell that Rainier was raising their entrance fee. For $50 I get into any US national park for a year. You guys charge more than double for an annual pass. Pathetic.
  24. It's fleecing, pure and simple. Some cuntry you havethere buddy. Millions of visitors come from around the world to Yellowstone and we don't charge them those kind of prices. You suck.
  25. Last summer I went to Glacier NP AND Waterton Lakes. Glacier was much less expensive and JUST AS nicely run/maintained etc. I guess it's just part of the Canadian mentality to squander money through big gov't and get no real extra ROI for that extra expense. And I'm sorry, but forcing people to pay an extra $8 PER NIGHT to light a goddamn campfire is totally ridiculous.
