    Sounds like you've got your head screwed on straight and you are heading in the right direction.

     

    One hole I see is with your mountaineering classes/schools...it would greatly benefit you to take them where there are some glaciers and get that experience under your belt. good schools on Rainier ect. It would get you used to climbing mtns on bigger/different scale than the microscopic east coast mtns and get a feel at least for a little altitude(and how to deal with that) with pros around to give advice, as well.

    A brief walk through of Bethesda Naval Hospital this past spring was a big eye opener for me to all pain and suffering we never hear about back in the states from this war... but I guess I'm preaching to choir...

    I agree with the "don't shit where you sleep" concept. I learned my lesson by doing outdoor/adventure photography professionally in the 90's. It took all the joy out of it and I barely shoot even for fun now. Give it a try,what the hell but if it starts to suck the passion away... walk away and don't look back.

    My gf is there right now working for the nature conservancy and she loves it. She's only supposed to be there for a couple months, but I can already tell that Im going to have to either drag her back, or move out there myself.

    and, guys, don't act like boulder or bend is the only mtn town that's over run with the rich... stating the obvious but the west is loaded with them. If it's got scenery then the rich are buying in and putting up a palace next to a trout stream. In Jackson, the joke is that all the millionaires have been displaced/run out to Pinedale to make room for the billionaires.
