Thanks Bill - just got home. I did have fun. Sorry you could not go. Your company would always be welcome. I had no takers Well folks you missed a great time. granular sugar snow when i got there but started to snow at 8pm. I was somewhat of a slug out of town so did not get on the chairs until 6:30. but made up for lost time by doing 24 laps (on various chairs) until they hauled me away at 10pm kicking and screaming. (thank god for Gu and ClifBars) Was still snowing steady when I left but the snow was only down to the big bend of the hiway -- from there it was heavy rain. Well tomorrow is the great day to be there. no crowds and freshies. and , Damn it , I have to go to work......(and catch up on my sleep) I will be going every Thursday for the next several weeks so if anyone wants in let me know (contact info above). -hw hey! I like the new "Quick Reply" feature but how do you insert Gremlins? everytime i try it just posts them to the bottom of the page . grrrrrr. I'm too tired to struggle with this now....(insert cry baby gremlin here)

Prolly not the correct forum but was not sure where else to stick this Goin' up to Stevens after work. Just me so room for one or two more. I'm driving anyway so no expenses. Come on !!! Conditions should be average They say some new will fall (which would be great) but I never trust 'em. I'm flexible but sort of planning to leave Muck-o-tea-o area between 3:30 and 4. Can meet anywhere in route. usual quik gas, ticket and din-din stop on way. like to be pushed off hill at 10pm but am flexible on that too. boarders and 3-pin-ers welcome so PM or call me already 206.459.8750. -hw (aka Mark)

DP, Good question. There is only ONE camp site at Chatter Creek. That campsite is a Group Site. For some silly reason it is called Camp Site #1 (number one). this is very funny to me as there IS only one campsite so why do you have to number it? We are dealing with Goverment types here tho..... It is reserved for us. Here are the details. ------------------------ Reservation # 1-2556688 State: WASHINGTON Reserved for: MARK STROM Nat'l Forest/Lake: Client # 1-1766742 Facility: CHATTER CREEK GROUP SITE # of People: 25 to a Max of 45 Site 001// # of Vehicles 12 Site type GRP STANDARD SINGLE Equipment: Arrival date: Fri Sep 05 2003 Depart date: Sun Sep 07 2003 Check in time: 3:00 pm Check out: 2:00 pm ---------------------- Reservation # is needed when we first take over the site on Friday night. We can do this any time after 3pm. I will not be able to be there until about 6 - 6:30, earliest. If you or others can beat me there let me know. Regardless, take this reservation number with you in case "the Tool" asks for it. As far as any other planning goes I will try to talk with you and Bug later tonight or Thursday. now I just have to find where i misplaced your phone number....... -hw

Dear Miss Rack Fondle-ee, a side thought has crept into my brain... what with all of lower BC closed (including most of squish), canudian 'sportsmen' will be flocking to this beautiful state to get their fix of endorphines while hiking, scrambling, and climbing. we will be lucky if there is anything left after the dust settles come Tuesday. (i don't think they get monday off like we do but if they do it must be Boxing Day or something ). so wherever you are going get there early and don't accept any Loonies or Twoonies (queen's bear ass) and definetly don't do any conversions (convulsions) to metric or whatever... have fun. -hw

"rock hanging" ????? what ??? you don't have any rock hangings on the wall at your house? you may also note that they clearly state that; "this is not intended to be an all-inclusive list" therefore, there could be these amenities.... garbage vaulting toilet rings tent watching (also at the park) opps ... the thread is starting to drift. Now, where is a moderator when you need one? Later. -hw

kitten,, "bug-fest" campsite is scheduled from 3pm Friday Sept, 5th until 2pm Sunday, Sept. 7th. Billygoat,, here is a link to the services available at this site. (I have never tried this adding attachments thing so we will see if it works) Click on Amenities from that page, Anyway, it looks like there are fire rings and a fireplace in the covered shelter. so bring that wood. don't know if there is a camp maven on-site to sell us some. http://www.reserveusa.com/jsp/commonpage.jsp?goto=/nrrs/wa/chat/newindex.html local number for other questions is (509) 548-6816. I am real jazzed up for a good time. See ya. -hw

Okay all, here is the skinny..... We have reserved the ENTIRE campground at Chatter Creek from 3pm Friday, Sept 5th until 2pm Sunday, Sept. 7th !!! (Bridgecreek and Eightmile were all booked up.) Chatter Creek is 16 miles up the Icicle Creek Road. It can accomodate 45 peoples and 12 vehicles (like we will pay attention to that... ). Max vehicle length is 22 feet. I have not actually ever been into this site but I understand we will be right by the creek . Please bring life-vests for the youngest ones. Okay, here is who has expressed interest; David_Parker, Bug, spacely, chucK, Billygoat, me, ChrisT, leejaams, Lowell_Skoog, Marylou. (give me hell if i missed somebody) We will be talking to you all individually in the next 2-3 weeks to make sure your questions are addressed. Thanks to Parker for the idea and a big thank you to Bug for kickstarting us into action. Later. -hw

Man, what a stiff neck I am........ Did not mean it to sound like this "headcount-for-camping-reservations" was set in stone. David Parker and Bug are right. Bring the kids and the gear. We will make room for any who decide (at any time) that they want to attend. (Gots to keep Smoky busy, you know) And if you can only come for one of those days, that is just fine too. Free hats for every kid..... -hw

Edmonds school district starts Sept 3rd also... Okay all, putting out for a final headcount for weekend of Sept 5, 6,7. Shooting for Bridgecreek, if available. Will tally up and make reservations tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1 pm. Don't know how to do survey thing so just post or PM whether you will be able to attend. Thanks. -hw

the weekend of Sept 6th sounds fine with me also. thanks Bug for taking the initative for setting this date. is there anything i can do to help on reserving a campsites? send me a PM if there is. we should have a blast. MaryL - glad to hear it but i also have a 12 yo girl. somewhat of a mischief maker, she is. they will be off causing trouble in no time. -hw

put me in on this one. it is a good idea Dave. 11-worth-less seems best to me too, fits most family sensibilities (read: easy access to all levels of comfort). on the organizational side i would be glad to do some advance work to get it going. have found (on past endeavers) that low stress and simplicity is the way to go. solicits some good suggestions: snag some camp sites and then see who can show. once people are there then make some calls on what to do. Dave call me and we will just get the ball rolling. who is up for this in the next few weeks? I am open any weekend from august 16th - into mid sept. -hw

capp.... I gots one. you can have. kid is shooting up like a weed and outgrew it a few seasons ago. (hmmmm....maybe if I stop feeding her...??? ) anyways it in damn near perfect shape. don't have it here at the moment but it is a full body type for toprope stuff. think it is from Black Diamond. goes up to something like a 100 lbs. i might even still have the net bag thingy it came in. worked great. PM me if interested. -hw

count me in too. just say where/when......

ooppppsss..... what a doofus. i just re-read your bivy.com comments and my approach answer is in there. thanks for the beta.

thanks for the suggestion hoping to do more climbing (on yak) than scrambling but will check out the needle - what exit do i want to access the east (?) side of summit area - or is it real obvious how to get to needle from summit area parking lot?
-
Going with the gf to explore (reconnoiter) yak, nak and vicinity. have been thru there several times long ago (pre- cc.com) but couldn't get any info out of you tight-ass canude-ians (guess i was asking the wrong people). anyways, going to try some exploring and moderates (mid 5th) and lots of scrambling. if interested to meet up there and ropegun or slave call me on c-fone after 5pm 206.459.8750. i will be on way up. sorry, limited room in truck (unless you beg). was originally going to squ-squish but that place will be a zoo..... and dru, you can't fool us with that picture -

First post so don't wail on me too bad if I mess up.... ------------------ Main Entry: hooky Variant(s): or hook·ey /'hu-kE/ Function: noun Inflected Form(s): plural hook·ies or hookeys Etymology: probably from slang hook, hook it (to make off) Date: circa 1848 : TRUANT -- used chiefly in the phrase play hooky ------------------- looking out at the sunshine I think I feel an illness coming on...... want to bail tonight / tomorrow for some alpine fun. looking for a partner(s). usual prankster pals cannot bail tomorrow Looking to do most anything easy or moderate (for the climbing part). up to 5.6 - 5.8. long approaches are no problem as long as you can go light. in fact i will carry bulk of gear if you are a stronger leader. don't mind car camping or bivy in route (not too keen on carry overs, tho) So, anybody interested? thinking prussic west ride forbidden west ridge burgundy spire (can follow but that is pushing my current lead skills) would even consider chamois north buttress but not sure if you can get thru log camp really late at night (Dru?) maybe there is another way in - i just don't know it. PM me if interested. Even if you can't go early friday I am open to pleas to hold off till weekend.
