  1. So I got a project scoping document from the Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National forest in the mail yesterday informing of a bunch of projects they intend to do the summer and fall of 2011 extending into 2012. Of particular importance to climbers is they proposed to fix the storm damage on the Clear Creek Rd (access to 3 oclock rock, green giant, exfoliation dome etc), squire creek road (squire creek wall/roan wall etc.) and some stuff on NF Sauk Road (Spring mt and other objectives). The Forest Service is solititing for any public comment on the projects. We should all call, write a letter, or send an email in support of these projects. Specifically, it would be great if you contacted them indicating you really appriciate their attention to these projects, which will allow continued day trip access to several great rock climbing areas, and request that the work be done as soon as feasible in 2011. The project to reference is #3 Darrington District Road Repair (repair currently known winter-damaged sites on roads 2060, 49, 18, and 2040 with reconstruction of road prism, low water ford construction or culvert upgrades. Roads locations: Clear Creek, Squire Creek , NF of the Sauk River and Segelsen Ridge.

  2. I got a proposed action scoping notice in the mail from the USFS indicating they were planning on fixing the clear creek and squire creek roads and a bunch of other stuff. I will read it over more carefully tonight and post more details. Everyone should call or write in there support of these proposed actions. I'll post some more info tonight.

  3. Hommie, I been boating a long time, probably longer than you have been alive if you are a senior in high school or college (started rowing at 13 and kayaking at 15). I have a plan. Did I say anything about preseason? You don't know what you are talking about. The river is fairly easily floated by IKs through out august in average water years. Have you boated it, or "I have a friend that...." I am looking for climbers that may also happen to Kayak, not the other way around, as we will climb afterward. Thanks for the highjack. If I sound like a dick, it is because I want to hear from people that are interested in the Trip I described.

  4. Any climbers in the western Washington area that are also kayakers? Want to do a low water Selway kayak self support trip shortly after the permit season ends July 31, launching sometime the first or second week in August? Hit up lightning dome area afterwards for some climby climby?

Send a pm, lets have a beer and talk

  6. Dug out the bits to bring to the gym, one is 5/16 but one is 3/8

It has the flat chisel tip, the tapered shank is a hand ground taper or possibley it was tapered but the taper was ground for some reason further. The taper appears to be the same as what Gunkiemikes bit is. Will bring to the gym tonight, be there at about 7:30pm

  7. I got a PM today from Climb X (Alex), which basically said the same thing, give us a call and have a beer, hey I am from the PNW/PDX.

My take on this guy’s jedi-mind-trick response: Move along, this is not the sketchy knockoff, used care-salesman, CE uncertified, climbing gear re-brander you are looking for.

  8. Why don't you logically explain the Madrock, X Rock, Pagan Gear cluster fuck/fudge (which ever you prefer) to us in simple easy to understand terms so knuckle dragers like myself may gain some respect for this new brand and actually send you some money. Everyone should check out cold fingers links. Something seams quite off in this whole deal.

You don't know what it means?, like you didn't start this thread to attract attention to this new brand to get people to buy your shoes?

    Shapp,

Wow Shapp, that was quite a mouthful. I like how you felt it prudent to censor "cluster-fudge." No, this is not Joe, this is Alex. I do hope life is more than a commerical. Maybe I am wrong. What are you advertising Shapp? Not even sure what that means. I always like your off the path TRs, I would love to float the Owyhee. Anyways, I hope you are doing well.

    Thanks

  9. It would be easy enough to buy a bunch of regular SDS bits, take them to a mashince shop and have them tapper them. Probably cost you about the same price as buying a regualr SDS compatible drill holder!

I think I have 2 tapered shank bits that you can have for free if you meet me at the Everatt plastic pulling joint.

  10. There are't many "always" do's and don'ts in climbing. Evaluate the situation, do what feels safe, if you don't like the fixed hardware, back it up with some trad/natural placements. If in doubt, go climb another route.
