  1. Man this is a tough crowd around here. I don't claim to know anything about the Cascade's. This will be a first time trip out that way. I just know what my climbing partner and I have talked about. We have 2 days to cover a lot of ground up there. So, who knows where we will end up. Maybe we will forge a new route...the Chicago route. TR to come. LOL
  2. Very interesting. The Sherpas are very spiritual and unselfish people. I hope I get a chance to experience their culture first hand some day.
  3. Just checking on conditions and possible routes. I don't care to do the hogsback what so ever. We are thinking of a hike up to illumination rock, then to crater rock, then to the summit via the old crater variation route. Now do tell! How many people do you expect I would see other than my climbing partner. And I am not talking about a half mile away.
  4. And if they were a bunch of liars as some of you put it....then I think it would have been real easy to go dump some stuff somewhere and say, "We found it." They would not have even had to do that. They could have just said we found it, but the area is too hot to let the media in for pictures. So really, Liars, no...just politicians.
  5. Well, since you are a mindless monkey you would feel that way. Just get in line and head up the way everyone else does. Not me, I will be surprised if we see more than a few people on our route. And yeah, Hood is big plans for a guy that comes from the midwest. Hell, the biggest thing I have out here to climb is your mom!
  6. That is some funny shit. I would really like to see that quote and the context it was taken in. I freely admit that he does provide some entertainment.
  7. That is some classic Bush stuff there AlpineFox...It is part of his charm? LOL..You have to admit that it is hard to be perfect all of the time. I know I have a hard time.
  8. Off to Hood this weekend dickhead. Feel free to come to Timberline and debate me some more. States are not as sovereign as our country is. Once they can stop asking the Federal government for money, then you can have all the state rights that you want.
  9. Ooops, sorry trying finalize plans for a big climbing trip this weekend. Guess it gave you time to catch your breath Alpine. Nah, Trask is cool, even though I have seen him go off topic and ranting a few times (ok, a lot). You have not figured it out yet....the Constitution doesn't give you the right to do anything other than what it says. If you congressman helped push a law through the House that ended up on the President's desk, was signed and then became a law that said you can't be in possesion of weed, then so be it. You had your state rights, right there when your congressman voted on this bill. If later your state has new law makers that disagree, then yeah they can pass a state law that says you can have weed, but that does not mean the feds are going to like it. You can't run and end around on a fourth and inches. So get your congressman to start a bill that will repeal the said law. I don't care if you got a 2 foot roach...have at it. Ask yourself...if your state passes a law and it is challenged in federal court as unconstitutional and the court rules that it is unconstitutional....then is that judge a Nazi for handcuffing state's rights? Nope, now sit down.
  10. For the 8 years that Clinton was in office, there were a lot of towns out here in Illinois that banned firearms. Now that Bush is in office, there are not anymore towns following in those foot steps. So there is your state rights. Do they have the right to take away your guns when the federal government and the Constitution say you can have them? Nope. That was a democratic policy that took away people's 2nd amendment rights. I don't see an amendment that says you can smoke weed or kill someone that wants to die. So, see the light and move over to the right a little.
  11. Ah, you are an arborist, now I see why you hate G.W.. Yeah his environmental policy leave a lot to be desired. Don't hate. Save the seals, take the smoking out side, stools...nah...a chair fit for a King.
  12. Must have been a Nazi in the Carter administration that forced states to raise the drinking age or else they would take away their highway funds. Yeah, Reagan continued this. Federal law always trumps state law. You for gun control? You think it is OK for a state or city to take away your guns? Cause the federal government doesn't and neither does the Constitution.
  13. Well, seems to me like the new tax cut is going to benefit anybody that is married and/or has children. I am not in that boat, but I did hear something about $400 rebate for each kid. Also, I think any tax cut would benefit the rich more than the normal person...one, because they pay a lot higher percentage of their income in taxes than normal people. That does not mean it does not help people who need it. Nazi? HUH? Oh, OK...He up holds federal laws that prevent somebody from killing someone or doing illegal drugs. Yep, he must be a nazi. I don't know about out there, but here in Illinois you can go to some pharmacies and get marijuana with a perscription. Yep, still illegal, but nobody cares when you have cancer and are going to die anyway.
  14. Do you mean fascist? No I don't think so. Just look at the diversity in his cabinet. Also, this latest tax cut makes at least 3 economic recovery programs that he has signed off on. I can't remember a President in the last 20 years that did not raise taxes, let alone cut them. Also, you might recall that no action has been taken by Bush without Congress approving it. Even when the democrats were in control. He is a sted fast Republican who loves democracy. Don't mess with Texas! God help Bin Laden if he would have crashed planes into buildings in Dallas or Houston.
  15. LOL...OK, just checking! Is her name Jenny. See the most recent thread.
  16. I am not looking for one that I have to pay for!!!
  17. I'll be there Friday...do they hang out at Timberline Lodge?
  18. Wrong wizard. Its the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. OK, OK, only cause you chimmed in RBW...not wrong exactly. The Bill of Right is the first 10 amendments of the Constitution. Amendment 1 of the Bill of rights does deal with the freedom of speech, among others. I will grant you that they are more or less one in the same. Now go donate $10 to the Bush/Cheney 2004 reelection fund (for the history lesson). GO GOP
  19. A bowl of anti freeze will do the trick.
  20. I might be a republican, but I not a fan of Cheney...You got me there on that one.
  21. Yep, no doubt about that. It is kind of sad. The only knock on G.W. is that he is not exactly friendly toward the environment. Which does concern me a lot given the forum that we are in. I sometimes wonder what Gore would have done after 9/11. He would still probably being trying to figure that out.
  22. Nope, none of the above...thanks for asking. Nice to see a fresh view on this thread.
  23. Ah, drunk unemployed english major. More than likely as a result of the fall of the Soviet Union. I am getting a clearer picture now. Thanks.
  24. No doubt this is someone with a very long criminal record. All anti authority types have the same background. Would not be surprised if he is running the Cascade militia.
  25. Sorry If I happen to share some views with Trask! I have lurked around CC.com for a few months now and have seen his useless rants. However, it seems his attitude is not as bad as you guys made him out to be. Apparently it is just a case of a guy getting trashed that does not share the common views of this forum. Trask is the man! Not a poser here, come to Chicago and find out for yourself.
