    Which 4WD SUV?

Yes, the vehicle type does matter. The idiot had a false sense of invincibility because he was in a big 4WD SUV and believed that just because he had 4WD he could drive on ice like it's nothing. If the same idiot was in a normal car, he may have bothered to heed the warnings flashing on the highway and put chains on like everyone else. I'm not saying all SUV drivers are idiots. But an idiot and an SUV put together is an especially bad combination.

    Which 4WD SUV?

Gotta to chime in on this one 'cuz it mentions Cornell. Many a time have I happily chugged up Buffalo St (really steep hill) in the snow in my Toyota Corolla while the frat boys in their big shiny Jeeps were slipping and sliding all over the place and plowing into snowbanks by the side of the road. Then there was the time my car almost got run over by some idiot in a Yukon at the Gold Creek Sno-Park. 4-WD doesn't do you any good if you don't have traction on any of your 4 wheels. That's what chains are for!
  3. i heard you swear constantly and spit.... Isn't swearing constantly and spitting considered a good thing in the cc.com crowd???
  4. It's tough to be a chick on cc.com. I showed up at Pub Club and still couldn't find a ski buddy. Even when they see you they well may not believe you're real.
  5. Isn't it high time to have one on the Eastside? I think so.
  6. Within about half an hour of my first ever time at Vantage yesterday, a rock came down and whacked me on the knee while I was belaying. Ouch! But the resulting bruise sure looks sexy. Someone should sell T-shirts saying "I went to Vantage and all I got was this dent in my helmet" or something to that effect.

    CC.Com Book Club

I'm currently reading "Athenais - The Real Queen of France", a history of the mistress of Louis XIV and assorted court shenanigans at Versailles. Quite a trashy book really. Has more intrigue, backbiting, scheming, and catfights than cc.com!
  8. Correction: Some of them want to use you (Necro) Some of them want to get used by you (trask) Get those two a room!
  9. Hey catbird, what inspired this burst into song?
  10. Hey, I beat you to it, so STFU!
  11. Yes, inversely.
  12. Probably bunny hill at Stevens, unless someone suggests a better idea.
  13. Well, on Sat I have my climbing class fundamentals field trip. Prussiking and belaying dead weights in the rain. Woo hoo! On Sunday I want to go skiing. Anyone want to come along?

  16. Well, this ain't New Orleans, now is it?
  17. how true that is... happy FAT TUESDAY Hmm...if I bring beads...will I get to see boobies? They have to be some pretty damn special beads.
  18. Thanks for the info. Hey, i just became a miniwanker.
  19. Where is it?
  20. I definitely want to get out this weekend. Looks like once again Sunday will be the day for me. Let me know if you want to do something beginner-level. Lifts or not, whatever.
  21. Why not just market a gender-neutral "softer" ski? I'm sure the experts could make up a better-sounding name for it.
  22. There is a lot of size overlap between men and women. Lots of little guys out there too. Having a wider range of sizes and stiffness available, especially on the smaller end, would be a wonderful thing. But is there an actual gender-based difference in skiing? Just wondering. I'm no ski expert.
  23. I'm curious - what's the deal with these skis? What makes them women's skis other than the flower graphics and the availability of shorter lengths? Someone once said that women's skis are softer under the assumption that they ski less aggresively - pretty damn sexist assumption IMHO. The whole concept of a women-specific ski seems pretty suspect in general. What do you think?
  24. I've got my own too, and never even considered that she might have a problem with rentals. Now we know - rent gear locally, or at least call beforehand and reserve the one small pair they have. On the bright side, she did get a coupon for a free rental for our inconvenience. And I got a coupon for a free ski tune.
  25. How about I start ranting about how Stevens didn't have any small enough tele skis for my friend to rent last week, and how chicks can be pinheads too goddammit, and TELE-BABES UNITE!!!! GRRRL POWER! Let's go out and show them! Is that better? I'm actually serious about the first part there. Smallest skis thy could find were some 170cm Rossi Hellgates. Heavy-ass racing skis. I played the martyr and used those and let my buddy use mine. Then we bitched to anyone who's listen that chicks telemark too and they should stock more small gear.
