  1. Hi, I am looking for one or two dependable people to join myself and my girlfriend on the DC route at the end of August on the 30th and 31st (Monday and Tuesday). We will be flying in from Japan on the 27th, and staying until September 12th. I attempted the Emmons 2 years ago, but it was really late season and we were unable to make reasonable time negotiating the maze of crevasses, so we'd like to try the DC. She's been on a glacier once in the Indian Himalaya, but we both have plenty of experience with Alpine snow and rock routes here in Japan. We've been practicing crevasse rescue skills here to keep it fresh while there is still some snow and ice left in the mountains here. Obviously we don't have a car, but are willing to rent one if necessary. Also if we find a partner with a car, we'd be happy to pay for all of the gas, park fees for entering the park, and beer. The schedule is a little flexible, but we will be heading to Shuksan later in the week. Anyone interested, please send a PM, or leave a comment here. --David Cheers.
  2. Hi- I'm looking for 1 or 2 people to join me on a traverse of the Tatoosh range on the south side of Rainier. Depending on the road conditions there are a couple options for approach. Either slog it up to Longmire (bicycle?) and make the first ascent up Eagle Peak, and continue from there, or start out on the Southwest side of the range on FR 5290 and taking the trail up past Bum Springs, with a return possible on FR 52 along Johnson Creek (bicycle back to start, or two cars). Personally I like the latter option a little better. I'm thinking this would probably be a 3 day trip, but I'm sure it's possible to do in 2, but I see no need to rush, especially if there's good weather. For a few of the peaks there is some 4th and easy 5th class climbing, so hard hat and rope will be necessary. I have a 45 Meter rope. I would like to go sometime in the next few weeks, and my schedule is pretty flexible with a little bit of notice. Here's a couple of links with a trip report and little information: http://ericsbasecamp.net/trips/Tatoosh1/Tatoosh1.htm http://ericsbasecamp.net/trips/Tatoosh2/Tatoosh2.htm Also the Cascade Alpine guide has some route information on pages 128-130. I'm in Tacoma, but I get up to Seattle frequently so I can meet up there with anyone who might be interested in this little adventure. Cheers --David
  3. I'm looking to head out in September if that's at all possible for you.
  4. I'll be up on the South Side as well on Friday night. Anyone wanna get together for a pre-climb beer
  5. I'll follow you on 8's especially on longer stuff, but you might be just a bit too demanding with 10's.
  6. You should have checked your pm's, I was ready to go.. I'm regularly off on Tuesdays so check your pms for my email.
  7. I'm off 28 and 29th. Haven't been to Smith since August. Monkey face has been on my list for a while, but I haven't found anyone up for it yet. If you need a 3rd shoot me an email. vraddict@gmail.com --David
  8. Hey I'm off Today (Tuesday) and Wednsday as well. Would really like to hit some rock. Si area possibly. I'm not looking for anything extreme as I have not been climbing much recently due to having hand surgery a while back, but I'm ready to get back out there.. Email me at vraddict@yahoo.com
  9. Looking to head out into the Mountains on Monday and Tuesday, (19th and 20th), could even get started late afternoon on Sunday. Perhaps Tooth/Chair Peak, or other suggestions. Day or overnight, doesn't matter, itching to get out, and good weather is predicted. PM me if interested.
  10. 20th and 21st, I'd be up for something, alpine maybe.. how's aboot canada?
  11. Well being th holiday season, Imma have to go with "Wreck the Halls", by Full Sail.
  12. So with all this stuff coming out recently, what stance is the Mountaineers taking. I'm heading to the film festival tomorrow, but did not know anything about this controversy. So if the Mountaineers have been made aware of this fact will they choose the ethical route and not show the grand prize winner at the film.
  13. I have recently moved up to Tacoma to take a new job. Now I am seeking 1 or 2 or a few regular/semiregular/occasional climbing partners. What sort of climbing you might ask. I enjoy a good alpine start, size doesn't really matter, though Rainier is a goal for this next summer. Last weekend was spent doing a partial traverse of the Tatoosh Range in knee deep snow. I enjoy trad rock climbing.. currently leading 5.6 but can follow 5.9 pretty easily, recovering from a hand injury last summer, so I should be improving shortly. The one problem in finding partners is my job involves working weekends and I'm usually off Monday and Tuesday. So if you're unemployed, that's OK, I have a car and gas. PM me if anyone is interested.
  14. I would recommend Dr. Balkovich, he's a hand surgeon in NE. He repaired some nerve and muscle damage I had done, and, though I am still recovering from my injury I am climbing again, and he was understanding of the sport, and let me know what my limits should be, and how to expand them quickly. His number is (503) 236-7743
  15. Work what's that?? Sorry to hear about the weather.. Any suggestions on places where I might find a competent partner?
