i am looking at getting a lightwieght static line (60M) for rappels to save on weight. Does anyone regularly use this techinique and would like to add some imput on what diameter (for knot strength vs. weight). thanks in advance.

realistically, i would say you would need at least t experienced people with you... so it might be difficult to find... have you ever practiced self arrest or crevasse rescue? because that is something you HAVE to have nailed perfectly... chances are it wont happen to you, but it happened once to my climbing partner and i was lucky (as was he) that i had my shit dialed... just taking a guy who knows shit isn't really good enough... what if he goes in? shit hits the fan and someone dies... but if you have practiced that stuff out there, you should be fine with a guide... you can probably practice that stuff by yourself in a crevasse lower down on the mountain (or on baker) and it would be ok... i (or someone else here) could lend a hand in that... PM me if you are interested...

screw all the climbing specific nylon shells... i bought my nylon shell at gart sports for $6 i spray it with waterproofer and i have a jacket that work EVERY bit as good as any climbing specific nylon jacket i have seen, for 1/20th the price...no brainer

diedre in the rain.... it was my first multi-pitch and it started raining ... made it nice and sporty. i was proud cause the guy i was climbing with offered to take the crux as it was raiining, but i took it anyways... almost took a nice lil' whipper, but no harm no foul oh and thanks becky for that pin on the last pitch! saved mah azz!
