  1. Tommorrow I'll be off chasing golden trout (prolly just brookies and rainbows) for the weekend; then another week and I'll be chasing steelies on the Deschutes. If I see a salmon swim by I'll try and bag 'em with a rock.

  2. I did not no they made scatter guns outta aluninin, whodathunkit.

Not much huntin to be done with the ol' 870, 'cept fo maybe griz, two legged snake, and mean snaffle's. [HORSECOCK]

  3. Way back when I needed a bear gun, the 870 was the better pick over the 500, based on the highly scientific "shake test" - shake 'em both and see which one rattles the most and then buy the other.

  4. I started with Toyota, then Ford, Chevy, and just recently back to Toyota. I loved the power, room, and general redneckability of the Ford and Chevy, but reliability was not there, at least compared to the Toyota. Friends have had good luck with the Nissan, but I suspect there is a reason for the Toyota "premium".

  5. The TLT4s were noticeably lighter than the the Lazers in my "walk around the store demo". They were just little too narrow for me.

Gettin about that time of year for tele/AT wars. Now how does that go, "drop your knee, squat to pee"? [big Grin][big Drink]

  6. Why do we care? I do not know, but nevertheless...

Chicago-bound jet heads to L.A. after striking birds on takeoff

    Published 12:10 p.m. PDT Monday, September 23, 2002

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The pilot of a Chicago-bound American Airlines MD-80 decided Monday to head for Los Angeles after striking a flock of birds on takeoff from San Diego.

Flight 1450, carrying 131 passengers and five crew members, was expected to land around noon, airport spokeswoman Gaby Pacheco said.

The jet struck the birds as it took off from San Diego International Airport at 10:04 a.m., Pacheco said. The pilot did not know of any damage to the plane, but chose to head for Los Angeles rather than continue on to Chicago.

American Airlines did not immediately return a call for comment.

  7. I'll ditto Ibex, if you want to ski go with the Diamir's and whatever boot fits. The Diamirs function like an alpine binding - step in, DIN releasable, good strength, brakes, etc. A good in bounds/BC hybrid. My Karakorams will fit the Freerides good enough for skinning, but the Silvretta's are supposed to be more compatible and the choice of climbers first, skiers second crowd. I wouldn't want to ski the K2s anyway, but that's me. The Dyna's are lighter, but it seems like lining up the little holes would be a pain, but I've never tried them so I dunno.

Gotta try on the boots. I was pre-sold on the Lowa Struk's until I tried them on, along with Dyna's and Lazer - the Lazers were the boot for me hands down based on fit. Try the Denali's if you really want to rock the downhills.

  8. Several years ago a couple guys washed up dead on the shore of South Lake Tahoe. At first they thought it was some sort of murder, but as time wore on they found pieces of their face and hair on the side of a dock and a jet ski floating nearby. As more info came became available it became obvious these guys had gotten drunk and stole a jet ski in the middle of the night and accidently plowed into the dock.....doh!
